Ah, I see. Well I don't even have one, never mind stroking it.

Well if Spiderplant says that is what is going to happen and why then that is good enough for me :)

good that all UK cable customers have the same channel numbers but a right pain in the ass having to rearrange my favs again

I frequently have trouble working the remote control quickly enough for any channel with a number having more than one digit - so now they all have three I expect to have more trouble. Still, I guess like all these things those of us with older stiffer hands will just have to put up with it.
I too do not look forward to having to start all over again with my favourites.

If ALL channel numbers are three digits, the box will presumably have to wait until you've entered all three, rather than the current timeout.

Yes -- this for me is THE major advantage of having three-digit channel numbers. But it will require a software update (on Bromley at least) for it to start behaving this way.

Surely Channel 0 is still there?

Not according to the guide I got through the door today. Channel 100: On Demand Previews and channel 400: FilmFlex Previews.

The Bromley non-VoD software (known as BU2) currently has quite a short timeout to make changing to one- and two-digit channels quicker. The Bromley VoD software behaves the same as the Langley software (i.e., longer timeout). I believe the timeout is very long on current Telewest software as they have only ever had three digit channel numbers.

Yes, it will still exist, but only for Near Video on Demand (i.e., Front Row, Special Events and some Adult PPV on Bromley), same as now. It's not listed in the leaflet partly because you don't need to specifically switch to it, the box automatically tunes to what's shown as channel 0 when the programme starts. And partly because it doesn't really exist, it's only an illusion of a channel! ;)

Re: Channel ReShuffle

Oh yeah. Langley have seperate channels for PPV, whereas Bromley have access via the On Demand menu :)

Channel changes happened - my box was on 722 (Sky Sports 2) : just this minute switched to 512 :)

Excellent. Let us await the inevitable "all the channel numbers have changed, NTL really suck" threads...

I'm in Derby - no changes here as of 4.30 am. Am I on a different platform to Nottingham?

Yes. Expect changes nearer the end of the month.
