I think it's the usual case of failed artist having a case of sour grapes and wanting to make some dosh.I personally regard niether of them as being particularly original.I bet if we all went digging we could find that the so called original had been 'copied' from somewhere else or based on another picture.

somewhere in here, presumably :)

Deep thinking ON

OK... so what about a vacuum (emptiness, not a Hoover)? Or an idea that exists in space and time, such as the equator? Or a mathematical constant, such as pi? Are these examples of art?

Deep thinking OFF

Nooooo... I've not found any art in a vacuum....

Yet... ;)

The composition in this shot is perfect....

Taken in a vacuum & very aesthetic IMO... ;)

That really is beautiful. But, in my opinion, it is not art, as it was not made by man.

Yes I find the geology of this planet the most wonderful abstract sculptor..In fact in the past in my 3D work I tried to incorporate the natural sculptures of the world into my work or find a way to present it mainly through the medium of ceramics.

Sorry to disagree Norm, but that's saying that any photograph of landscapes / natural phenomenom / scenery etc isn't art...

They subjects aren't made by man, but IMO the photographs are art due to the composition / colour balance & everything else which is down to the skill of the photographer...

That begs the question of course, if the photograph's art, why isn't the subject...

Getting a bit deep this.... :spin:

Good point! OK, let's stick with the subject (as opposed to a photograph) for a moment. Suppose you climb a mountain, and near the top gaze upon the snow-capped peak. This is completely untouched by man, as it snowed last night, and you are the first person on the scene. Would you call this art?

Deeper...

Would it have been art before you looked at it?

Even deeper ...

Would it have been art if this had happened 10 million years ago, before there were any people around?

... time for an aspirin...

Well do you think this is art?

It is entirely computer generated.

Well, it appears very technically proficient & getting the lighting effects just so must have taken some time...

However, I wouldn't call a photograph of some toffee apples Art so I couldn't really classify this as such, IMO...
