Just wonder when those fols in high places at NTL realise teh network is going to grind to a halt if they don't look after it and to look after it they need engineers.

Also as they only have so many streets cabled sooner or later they will saturate their area and cannot streatch any further without laying new cable.

I suppose the question is what will be next the network people who keep the BB going. And reconfigure the system to balance the load.

I was made redundant from my company on 31st Oct. It was a shock.
I felt bitter, and the usual questions - why me etc.
I've registered with several recruitment agencies, and after being out of work for five weeks, have now been offered another position with another company - at a higher salary, and with much better benefits.
Believe me - as one door closes, another opens...

Simon Duffy should be made redundant :(

Then we get ignition, bill and all the others back probably all under simon's salary level.

Those that say that they couldn't careless or they are happy about being made redundant, wait until you get stuff all from the government.

I only get £200 per month and pay out £400, so early next year I'll be going in the red in my Bank

david yeah I had that affect when I lost a job few years back, they were paying me for 6 weeks after I left and everything looked cushy and I got too comfortable, even took my time to claim the dole. Situation soon changed when I realised once income stops cash drops fast and lifestyle has to change.

But good luck to you Bill and I hope you still find the time to visit here.

Just picked up on this thread. Pleased that both Bill and OB are happy with the redundancy packages on offer, but stunned that the BeanCounters once again rule. I wish both of you well for the future.

At some stage companies need to wake up to the fact that they are only as good as their staff. You can only outsource and subcontract so much. At some stage expertise is essential in house so you can still resolve issues, deveolop solutions and progress. But as ever the shortsighted, approach simpy seems each member of staff as a cost to be reduced.

Well said! bean counters ARE taking over the world - but at the wish of shareholders $$$$ Profits first $$$$ Customer service second $$$ Staff third.

Re: Redundant

Good luck to everyone who has been kicked out or simply walked out. I walked out myself on Friday after nearly 9 years with the company, I'd been hoping for redundancy but I just couldn't stand it any longer. The role I did was technical support for the network engineers but over the last 12 months this has been diminished by ignorant and obtuse directors (one in particular). The company is realling going down the pan. Outsourcing is the key and I think you'll see an even bigger shift towards this next year, especially on the network engineer and switch engineer side.

Couldn't be happier to have left and they can stick their redundancy up their @rse!!!
