Give people "free" speed upgrades to keep them from leaving, but raise the price of the product regardless. It's kind of a double win for Virgin.
Any price increase you are subject allows you to leave, so the only way it can work is if the new contracts for the speed increase happen after a price increase. Therefore the ball is completely in the customer's court

Of course, considering that they are raising prices, it's a bit rich of them to say that the upgrade is "free".

Any price increases are not connected to the speed increase i.e. they would happen whether you got an increase or not

Therefore the increases themselves are 'no extra cost'

Wrong one, that's for the previous upgrade - the new one is at www.virginmedia.com/speedupgrade

something you can get them to fix tomorrow

http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/...nd/m-p/2060120

"When will the broadband speed upgrades take place?

We’re beginning our upgrade work at the beginning of 2014 and anticipate that it will take 12 months to bring new, faster broadband speeds to all our eligible customers across the country. We’ll be updating our postcode checker every step of the way, so you can always find out the latest view on when your area will be upgraded. All you need to do is visit this page and enter your postcode to find out when faster broadband speeds will be available in your area.

Thanks for the link though, July-December for me too. It'll probably be November because that is when all the other upgrades have been done over the years.

Clutching at straws there fella.

Obviously, you are correct.

But good luck to anyone actually getting service from either of those.

Gigaclear & Hyperoptic are still the fastest broadband in UK.

Why don't you sign up with them then?

126Mb become 145Mb (only 19Mb extra) but not worth it for another 12 months contract. (I am fed up with virgin greedy git try to keep u on for another 12 months just for 19Mb extra of speed)

I don't believe you're under any obligation to accept?

It's pretty much not available anywhere. But hey! It's the fastest in the country.

Woohoo.

Doubt i will notice any difference from 120mb to 152mb they should have gone to 200mb i can see my self dropping a tier if they are bumping the price up for little gain.

Re: Virgin Media 150Mb Coming 2014

If the price increasing for 120Mb then I will drop down to 60Mb tier.

I may be being blind, but I can't see anywhere that you are required to extend your current contract.

Also, I look forward to this being pushed back 6 months like every other speed increase. 2015 here we come!

Course 150Mb isn't available anywhere either. Woohoo.

BT 330Mb is available in more areas right now than VM's 150Mb, and probably will be for another year.

Also VM keeps launching new speeds but my area doesn't get them until 2 years after everyone else.

Double woohoo.

Using ADSL2+ now as my cable broadband down again. Tech guy coming out tomorrow (booked in) as they say my modem isn't connection to their network proper.

Why don't you sign up with one of the UK's fastest fibre broadband providers that you advised of then?
