And with the tyres this season, I doubt we will have a decent race at all this season. Pirelli need to make better tyres for the love of God.

If they DID have permission from the FIA to do the tyre test then I don't see how the other teams can complain about it, although I agree it does look as though Mercedes benefited from it. Difficult one this.

Personally, as I cannot stand Mercedes, I'd say kick them out of the season. Logically, I say they should stay in as they had permission from the governing body.

From what I have read today, FIA are saying they had no knowledge of the test, so either Mercedes are lying about the FIA knowing, or FIA are lying about it. If FIA didn't have knowledge, then that makes it worse for Mercedes. If they did it without permission from the FIA, then I think a fair result would be a small fine and maybe scrap their points from Monaco.

Re: Formula 1 2013 season

It looks like Mercedes should have used a car that was atleast 2 years old to do a 1000KM test, and not their 2013 model.

Quote:

Pirelli say they are allowed to ask teams to do up to 1,000km of testing, which was as much as Mercedes did over three days at the Circuit de Catalunya in the immediate aftermath of the Spanish Grand Prix, the race before Monaco.
But Red Bull and Ferrari say the rules state this must only be with a car that is at least two years old. Mercedes used their 2013 car.

Christ almighty, does anyone at the FIA know anything happening in the sport at all? Next it will be McLaren and Red Bull investigated for tyre testing.
