Can't say a Japanese news channel is top of my wish list but it's nice having quite a few different news sources.

I think we are talking about a process

1. V+ will not be available to new customers, only TiVo will be with a number of different models
2. eventually all replacement standard boxes will be replace with VHD boxes, through upgrades of service or faulty box replacement
3. Same as to 2 for V+ customers

The sooner the better, VM could then switch to using MPEG 4 for HD instead of MPEG 2, that would free up bandwidth for more channels, faster broadband etc.

If I get a new Tivo box next month and want to keep my V+ box for another room how much more should I expect to pay a month I have XL TV with Sky Sport HD.

Thanks

It's not a good sign for cinemas.

It would have to be a very special movie for me to shell out £18! My unlimited card with Cineworld is only £13.50 per month.

I'm with you mate can't ever see myself paying that , when you can buy it on Blu-Ray cheaper than that.

Not for me either.

Having said that we went the Odeon recently and 2 tickets cost nearly £17, add onto that travel and the obligatory snacks and it must have cost almost £30 all in.

Didn't Virgin offer a service recently were you could order the movie on demand for £15.00 before the general DVD release date, and you received a copy of the movie in either DVD or Blu-Ray format through the post shortly after? I'm sure this was done with Clash Of The Titans and Alice In Wonderland.

The future for cinema isn't looking too good. I went to see Hall Pass recently on a Friday afternoon, I was genuinely the only person at the screening! There is a demand to see new movies at home quickly. Essentially I'm paying almost £30.00 per month for SKY Movies in HD. If Virgin offered a Picturebox type service for around the same figure, but showing movies shortly after their cinema release I'd well jump on it. Guess we need Ofcom to give SKY's monopoly on movies a good shake before we see this type of service.

Sorry to go off topic, but it's a service I'd like to see coming soon:)

I think there's definitely a market for it, especially for families. I just like the occasional cinema night out and that's the only reason it wouldn't be for me, i'm usually happy to wait for the DVD release otherwise.

In the heady days of the 80's BSB anticipated that with their technology they would be offering something similar within a few years of launch.

Hmmmm!

Were VM have a distinct advantage in the VOD war isn't just technology its also the fact that at the moment Anytime+ is only available to Sky BB customers.
