Re: The Royal Wedding 2011
A bit of useless trivia :D
The stage manager of The X Factor will oversee television coverage. Diccon Ramsay, 27, will “cue” Kate Middleton at Westminster Abbey. Prince Harry is considered a safe pair of hands by bookmakers, with Ladbrokes offering odds as long as 100/1 that he will drop the ring. Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London, will give Prince William and Kate Middleton a tandem “Boris bike” An unidentified gambler has bet £6,000 that Kate Middleton will wear a Russian fringe tiara borrowed from the Queen. A £6,000 bet at odds of 12-1 was placed at Ladbrokes in Ascot, Berks, on the tiara, which was made in 1919 for Queen Mary. The country’s largest rail union, the RMT, will keep its head office in London open during Friday’s bank holiday because it opposes the monarchy. The staff could choose whether or not to work, a union spokesman added. The odds on the Duke of Edinburgh falling asleep at the service were cut to 8/1 by William Hill. It is one of the firm’s most popular bets. more here |
Re: The Royal Wedding 2011
It's all a bit sickening, bombastic and pretentious really.
Ah well, if it makes people happy. I'm sure our street party later will be fun :) |

Re: The Royal Wedding 2011
I think the wedding was lovely (if not a bit long!) and Kate's dress was classy as expected, although a little daring (Madonna like across the bust) and famously see-through across the shoulders. Her sister looked like she'd spent too long in the fake bake booth, but her dress was amazing and very flattering to her shape.
I was a little disappointed they didn't jump on a harley and drive off in the sunset, but the aston martin was a nice touch :) |
Re: The Royal Wedding 2011
Well, I think we can safely say there isn't another nation on Earth that can put on a show as well as that. Hollywood would spend millions on a thousand takes and still not end up with anything that looked as good.
Even if you have absolutely no affection whatsoever for the royal family and our constitution, you have to admit, you can't buy the sort of positive publicity for our great country that today's events have brought. And, to top it all, a couple that are obviously very much in love have tied the knot and are starting life together. Wonderful. :) |
