TV On Demand is hyped up way too much as most of the programmes were rubbish when first aired.....You do get gems like the Office, The Sopranos and The Royle Family, but in all honesty you could play the parts.

Virgin have done well in adding HD channels , but there On Demand service is poor in my opinion in fact I would say the choice isn't as good BT Vision and the layout on the EPG is poor. BT also provide trailers for their movie on demand service which would be a welcome addition to filmflex.

Filmflex movies often do have trailers. Select a film, press Info, press Blue for full screen. All the new releases normally have a trailer.
As to the HBO content leaving On Demand: it's been there for years: if you hadn't watched it already by now then that's hardly Virgin's fault. Sky needs something to put on the new Sky Atlantic channel as HBO only has a handful of new series a year, so the HBO back catalogue will effectively become Sky Atlantic.
(And I fully expect VM to carry Sky Atlantic when it launches)

I do not find this nessarily true having just flicked through on demand its got two series of south park hardly rubbish when first aired, planet rock profies, clash of the dinosaurs, cold case sries 6,inbetweeners series 1 to name but a few out of lots of pages.

When there is nothing on the main channels i can always find something worth watching on tv choice on demand,i think for me at least tv on demand is great.

Cannot see what you mean by "in honesty you could play the parts" the throuble is i do not play the parts! but like watching the shows!;)

All this talk doesn't bother me. You can only watch so much TV and we have a great choice on VM. You are in danger of becoming a zombie if all you do is watch TV. TV on demand is handy to have , but It's months since I've used it , tend to use catch up instead.

SKY is a monopoly. Unless we ever move to a non cabled area there is nothing which will entice me to join SKY.

The future is good and that future is TIVO and VM.

Agreed but TV choice needs more choice I've never watched anything on it for months.

I noticed on my mum`s bt vision that they have ABC content. I first got into criminal minds and grey's anatomy etc on virgins On demand but they don't seem to have any of them on there now. Has bt vision got an exclusive deal with ABC? I use virgin media on demand a lot but like a lot of the comments say the same content just gets put on, then removed, then put on there again. Its about time virgin media put more effort into getting vod deals because it is there top selling point and they will end up getting left behind like they did with HD.

From Monday Hallmark & Hallmark +1 becomes Universal and Universal +1 on Virgin Channels 162 and 163.

As part of the rebrand viewers will see fresh content including Rookie Blue, Facing Kate and the best in US drama series Law & Order. Launching its new look will be the UK premiere of Shattered.

---------- Post added at 10:32 ---------- Previous post was at 10:31 ----------

No news on Universal HD coming.

I have been told (NOT by any insiders) that Sky Atlantic will launch early next year on Virgin.

Sky Atlantic HD will not launch - as far as I know.

This TV system needs a drastic change if you want all the channels you only have one place.to go , how is that not a monopoly.

Of course its a monopoly of sorts but until ofcom or the competiton comission get their backsides in gear and serparate skys content from sky the platform it will continue, but due to the "politics" of doing that softly softly seems to be the way of dealing with it.:(

I thought VM have the option of carrying any of Sky's basic HD channels, that is what this press release says anyway. I can understand there may be cost issues stopping VM from carrying more but if this statement is correct they are not being withheld from carrying more.

As far as i know and i may be wrong sky arts 1 and 2 HD are the only channels left to come under that "heading" customers wanting sky sports news HD,and sky sports 3 and 4 HD (These although not basic channels definately are being witheld from vm)) are unlikely to see them appearing on vm anytime soon.

There does seem some confusion though as to what skys basic HD channels constitute for example, does this include sky news HD or sky sports news HD who knows?. as far as i know vm have never mentioned this just sky 1 hd (already here) and sky arts HD channels to come.

I would assume a basic HD channel is none of the premium sport or movies channels, obviously I could well be wrong.

It is the paragraph that starts 'For an incremental wholesale fee, Virgin Media will, for the first time, have the option of carrying any of Sky's basic HD channels, Sky Sports HD 1 and Sky Sports HD 2, and all Sky Movies HD channels' that is interesting.

I guess we will never really know what was agreed.
