I shall watch NFL countdown on ESPNA and the game on BBC HD, no adds and no Nick halling going on about the Steelers all evening, however , I would have liked to here Shaun Gayle' analysis live from the game on sky, but Mike Carlson is good enough.

Very good 2 point conversion they did.. pity the game went against them and they didn't get their final winning touchdown..

 Well done Packers and a totally enjoyable superbowl

Just really glad that it didn't turn into the low scoring game everyone was fearing

It was a very good Super Bowl that's 5 or 6 in a row. If only the FA Cup Final could capture some of the magic of Super Bowl Sunday. Back in the seventies and early eights Cup Final Day was the biggest sporting day around the world, it has sadly been over taken.

If only though Nelson hadn't dropped those two catches, it would have been a runaway score with a very different MVP

Is this true and not English hype? The state of Football in England during that period was both technically and tactically behind that of a lot of European and South American countries. It was considered relatively poor quality.

Maybe it's simply because of the broadcasting and fame I guess.

Anyway the FA Cup will probably never recover that spark, the closest rival we have to the Superbowl is the Champions League Final. It's already the 2nd biggest regular sporting event in the world, in terms of TV Coverage, and UEFA are obviously gunning for first spot. Hence the move to a Saturday evening..

I was purely talking about Cup Final Day not the technical side of the game. I agree the the F A Cup final is very unlikely to recover.

We were sloppy at times, Missed passes and drops all over the place in the opening 2 qtr's.

Roethlisberger had a weak game in my opinion.

To many turnovers cost the Steelers the game.

Newbie Question:

If a team knows they won't make the post season what is too stop them throwing their games in order to achieve the worst season record and hence the first pick in next years draft?

Pride?

It can be quite late in the season till a team knows for sure that they won't get to the playoffs so it may not happen very often

If the players/coaches/owners were to do it and got caught I imagine the NFL might take action and ban/suspend the guilty parties

Can't see fans standing for it. Also don't really think having first pick in the draft is THAT much of an advantage.

As has been stated it's unlikely any team would actually throw their games, but once they're out of the running they're more likely to give their rookie players some field time.

Surely it can be though? How many top, top players will come up each year? Surely the 1st pick is a huge advantage...Are there any financial advantages to continue to win once the season (for you) is over?

The players have to try and win they are playing for there future in the league, also attendances would drop therefore effecting the cash flow and pride.
There are many many top players that were never taken in the first round of the draft to mention one Tom Brady 6 th round compensation pick,http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Brady there are many others. Admitted you have better chance of landing a good player in the higher rounds, but there are no guarantees, there are numerous high picks who have ended up as a bust eg Jamarcus Russell http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JaMarcus_Russell there is also the massive salery that goes with a high round pick Russell signed a six-year contract worth up to $68 million, with $31.5 million guaranteed. He is now out of the league and the Raiders have had to right off the money.
So you can see the first pick is not a guarantee of anything.
