Today I have received an e-mail dated 16/5/04 (11 days late)
I am sick and tired of the poor e-mail service and late/missing messages that have been occurring of late.

Will let you know of any reply.

well I finally got a reply from them.
They said sorry for the problems then went on about spam and new filters being put in place, but bugger all about why the messages keep in arriveing 2 weeks or more late.
I am still getting them from 16/17 May.

See Pem's post #471 in this thread for the explanation ;)

I live in belfast and for the past couple of days i have notice a significant reduction in speed and i get this error message in outlook express.

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'pop.ntlworld.com', Server: 'pop.ntlworld.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '+OK 2353 octets', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

can anyone shed any light on this

Re: [Merged] NTL Email Issues

I am NOT an NTL customer (lucky me it would seem)! However I have friend who is. He last mailed me late on Friday night and I relplied the same evening. As I heard nothing back and was expecting a specific reply quite quickly, and I didn't know about the problems you guys were having, I mailed again early yesterday morning to see if he was OK, and I still haven't heard. I am now unsure whether he would have got either of those emails and/or whether he has tried to reply to me at some point. He lives in Hertfordshire, if that's at all significant. :erm:

Cheers,

Veejay

I email a friend a the beginning of the month and he only got the e-mail 2 days ago, so wait a few more weeks, he still may get it!! :D

Re: [Merged] NTL Email Issues

Just discovered my email client in the process of downloading my entire inbox all over again - duplicate emails all over the place. Right mess  This happens every now and then - NTL must be fiddling with the mail database.

Re: [Merged] NTL Email Issues

I know my friend's had problems before, either not getting emails or getting them multiple times (although sometimes that's been a problem at my end too and I am not on NTL).

Can I ask - as well as problems with NTL customers receiving email lately, are there problems for them sending as well? So even if he got my mail he may have either been unable to reply, or his reply may be held up for ages????

Sorry to pester, I just need to know. Thank You.

Re: [Merged] NTL Email Issues

Well I've been having e-mail problems again. I've had several people not receive e-mails that I've sent meaning, for instance, that customers don't know whether I've got their orders or not.

I've also sent e-mails to companies enquiring about various products only to get no reply and it's not until I mail them again do I find out they didn't get the first one :(

Re: [Merged] NTL Email Issues

My email sig for the past week has read:

Quote:

--
john
mailto:<main address>
Alternative:<alternative non-NTL address>
Note: NTL's email services are notoriously poor. If you are expecting a reply and do not receive one within 48 hrs, can you please email me again or try my alternative address - chances are your email never arrived or my reply has vanished!
No plans on altering it just yet :) I also chase up emails after a week if I don't hear anything. It's about as good as Royal Mail
