Just a bloke that's given them the freedom to play how they want. Is it a bad thing? Definitely not. Imagine is someone else can get this out of them and then some.

Overall I'm sure he's a welcome temporary fix but there's someone out there that can improve upon this and make them formidable.

8 wins out of 8?? That's more than beginners luck, I'd hang on to him.

And the last United manager to win eight on the bounce was none other than Jose in 2017. Still far to early to give Ole the job and I am not alone in thinking that Mike Phelan has been a major factor in Uniteds revival. Who knows what could have been if Moyes hadn’t stupidly got rid of Phelan as soon as he got the managers job.

Graeme Souness won 8 out of 10 and drew the other two in his first 10 at Newcastle. Newcastle went on to win 11 games in total. :D

I'm not sure they will. I think they'd rather lose playing on the front foot than lose whilst piling their own box with players. As already said, they've got the players and Ole has given them the freedom to play. All they need now is a Guardiola to mould them into a formidable force.

It was definitely a case of The good, the bad and the ugly for Oldham Athletics veteran Peter Clarke yesterday. The 37 year old made a fantastic goal line clearance, then deflected the ball to give Doncaster the lead. Then he scored the equaliser but then conceded a very iffy handball decision to give away the winning penalty. And then he got sent off deep into injury time.

Newcastle cancelled a deal for Lazio's Jordan Lukaku yesterday under an excuse of failed medical. Only to then pursue the Monaco LB that Lazio had opted for to replace him. :erm:

Miguel Almiron bid accepted. Flying out for Newcastle medical. This was one of the conditions for Benitez staying.

£20.5m for Almiron and two loan arrivals imminent as it appears Ashley didn't call Benitez bluff. Also comes 18 hours after Benitez refused to rule out quitting before the season ended.

Iffits? A fair result, Burnley played well but a win would have flattered them. Was a bit concerned when I saw the team sheet, Herrera, Martial and Lingard should have started. Time to experiment when you have the game won.☹

Everyone is allowed to make a mistake. A bit of disrespect towards Burnley imho. Don’t think he would have started Herrera and Lingard on the bench against Liverpool or City. It was a mistake by Pereira that led to the first goal, Herrera doesn’t faff around like that in those areas.

That said would they have fought back like that under Jose?

Newcastle sign Miguel Almiron for £20m. The highest fee paid for a MLS player. Barecca also joins on loan.

Reported earlier that Newcastle have taken loans from Barclays secured against TV money. Fairly incredible given the cash reserves the club has, still unaware what this money is for or where its going.

Re: Season 2018/2019

Another win but Leicester could and probably should have scored. The win is evidence that United are better when they're set up to play properly. The way they failed to truly control the game though is evidence of why they shouldn't throw their eggs straight into the Ole basket. Once again, a solid manager/leader will make this team formiddable and if they do opt to go for another manager that can bring the leadership and tactical qualities of a Guardiola whilst retaining their attacking intent then surely there's only good things on the horizon. Poch and Zidane are still the replacement favourites whilst the bookies go for Ole outright.

An awful rule. Can remember when Chelsea drew 0-0 with Barcelona at the Nou Camp then were leading 1-0 at home only to have Iniesta score in the last minute and thus send Chelsea out without losing a game.

The game was famous as being 'The disgrace at Stamford Bridge' a play on the comments of Didier Drogba after the game because of the questionable 'bias' refereeing performance. The game itself became a conspiracy for match fixing but was never confirmed and wasn't part of the release from Uefa that confirmed matches had been fixed in the Champions League before. We surely know Chelsea would get revenge 3 years later though. Knocking out Barcelona in the Semi-Final whilst down to ten men, remembered for the now iconic Gary Neville-Torres moment before winning the entire thing in crazy fashion against Bayern in the Allianz.

Yes the injuries did not help but there were signs that PSG were starting to open up United's vulnerable defence especially down the sides.

Why oh why are they still playing him in a position of which he gets exposed on a regular basis?.

Just watch United get City away next.

Wolves away is still a very tough draw.

You lot seem to forget that the Premier League isn't being run for the fans though ;)

l think it is blindingly obvious Carth that the fans are the least important cog in the Premier League wheel.;)

Re: Season 2018/2019

I might apply for that, I'd ask for a minimum 5 week contract at £50k a game and see how it goes.

If I lose all 5 and then get sacked I wouldn't be sad :D

l can't say we deserved more then a point there at the theatre of dreams.

iadom 24-02-2019 18:45

Re: Season 2018/2019

Didn’t even deserve that. That was the easiest game De Gea has had all season. One hopeful, long range punt from way outside the box from Sturridge your only attempt on target. United lost Matic before kick off then three midfielders before half time and yet still conjured up the best of very few chances.

Crowd was amazing, injury list looks a bit worrying though.:(

Chelsea v City, only one shot on target in 105 minutes.

Lucky that you still had the missing Sanchez to bring off the bench.;)

We could be here till midnight and still not get a goal today.

Player power rules the day at Chelsea.:td::(

Amazing scenes at Wembley, more fun than the game tbh. How can a player be allowed to refuse to come off?

Player player is endemic at Stamford bridge and unless the chain is broken Chelsea's problems will continue.

l feel sorry for the manager.
