Can someone check their box? Can't remember whether it was on TVAnywhere?

As the poster on the community forums was browsing the TV listings guide maybe they're talking about TVAnywhere?

Don't have TV anymore so can't check, Fox was one of the 3 channels i watched when i did have it.

Along the same lines.

We have just been given an update:

As it stands this app will allow you to -

-watch your recorded programmes from your tivo box,
-Watch and rewind/restart every live channel you are subscribed to, even ones without a catch up service
-Stream to a tv that has a chromecast dongle connected
-capture clips from TV and upload to social media

Think VM should get involved in the Deadline Day

They could always do a swap-deal involving Atlantic, maybe Ginx or something :D

But I guess that's like swapping Luke Chadwick for Messi :td:

I agree, FOX has a lot of great shows and maybe surpasses Atlantic in the amount of quality too.
Would be madness if VM lost this. Can't happen though can it? surely not?

Agreed, where FOX goes I go, so it would be goodbye from me if VM lost this. Somebody on the VM forum mentioned it could be only be to do with TVAnywhere even if it was true but I will see if anything comes of this. Think it is a mistake personally as don't think VM would be that stupid and have another Sky One situation as they did a few years back.

Isn't it a bit bizarre that VM would 'just happen' to have a pop-up ready. Why would you even do one.

I thought the same, I see Sky One's channel number is the new slot it moved to last year so it's not an 'old' pop up.

Has it been posted early?

When did Fox's carriage deal start?

It lists FoxHD and Fox+ which aren't on TVAnywhere?

Haha, purely as speculation just imagine if Sky said "if you want Atlantic, you must lose FOX."

What would people prefer Atlantic or FOX?

FOX for me personally, my view on Atlantic is well known. I'd have to drop the XL package down to L or even M+ if FOX did go.

It seems odd that the broadcasters would allow streaming to another device (which is surely less secure) yet not via MRS to another TiVo?

I've used NOWTV on and off for about six months, it was a bit hit and miss at first but it's really stable now and to be honest i'm thinking of ditching VM top package, and using NOWTV.

You can get some great deals on passes on EBay.

I don't completely trust it for live sports as it occasionally freezes and I have to go in and out to get it working again!

If it an two year deal History HD may launch on Virgin Media in May.

The Daily Show is fantastic. If you want to watch Fox News for the comedy value then The Daily Show effectively does it for you and means you don't have to watch 24/7 waiting for a moment.

Sky News, however, is actually quite decent and nothing like Fox News.

Sky News is akin to a tabloid newspaper, whilst BBC News is akin to a broadsheet.

Really with the way the BBC News behaved over the breaking Cliff Richard story it was more akin to how a red top would behave Richard.

Agreed. Key difference to me is that Sky News will lead on stories even if not 100% sure whilst BBC News will go through a longer verification process. In this way, they nicely complement each other.

I had to laugh earlier. Obviously the current story is about Ed Balls forgetting the name of one of the Labour party's biggest supporters. Of course the BBC can't ignore this story because it happened on their newsnight programme when they were trying to provide him with the chance to prove he isn't anti-business, but h fluffed his lines. So earlier they ran a big piece, presumably to provide balance, comparing it to David Cameron forgetting the name of a constituency five years ago!

The sad thing is I'm not even sure they know they're doing it.

Never really understood why sky wanted to launch it anyway other than to be vindictive to withhold more channels. They're like itv. They have more channels than content but still seem hell bent on launching more channels

Just done a survey about Sky considering launching a new channel that is sports based and would be available to Sky tv customers as a basic channel It would show things like soccer am,replays of premier league games and classic matches. They were trying to see if I`d become a sky tv customer if it was launched. It also asked bizarrely whether I`d become a Sky tv customer if the proposed channel was available on Freeview! Anyone else heard about this or done the survey on Toluna?

Media Boy HQ did hear rumours of Sky moving things like Soccer AM and WWE to an Sky Basic channel was rumour at the time of being called "Sky Bravo". We also hear that Sky was thinking about axing Sky Arts 2 to make an "Sky Arts Super Channel".

That rumour was over an year ago.

I did too sir! A classic channel of unique trash I found strangely fascinating. The thing with most channels now is they need to provide fairly good programming. With bravo anything good in theory could get on air. Always worth a laugh!

As for Fox News this is why I want the channel it's comedy gold!

If Wight Cable are picking up Solent TV, they must be carrying the channel way out of the freeview broadcast area. Could it be they can't block at the headend like VM?
On a related note, surely by now VM could distribute channels via packages postcode which releases the EPG channels, like freesat or sky, rather than this old fashioned headend business, which leaves some with and without channels they could get through freeview?

Virgin Media is 8 years old on Sunday.

Virgin Media TV prices has now gone up but Media Boy HQ has not seen info on any new channels set to launch on Virgin Media any time soon.

So we feel the prices JUST want up to pay for both Sky Sports News HQ HD and Sky News HD.

Prices go up because VM thinks they will get more money by putting them up. They're not directly related to the number of channels etc.

Exactly channels are only part of the costs , there are many other things like product development costs , broadband upgrades , wages , marketing etc.

What is the DNP orders?

1) Something that is not coming to Virgin Media anytime soon.
2) Just rumours - not confirmed by Virgin Sources.
3) Info was lifted on Saturday and Monday.

What?

If it's not coming soon why is it a 'do not post' order? Is it that they don't want us to know that nothing is coming soon? This doesn't make sense.

And what information was lifted on Saturday and Monday? Was it 1 above?

Indeed but many feel we are now at that price ceiling Andrew for what we are getting so my advice to them for the future is don't get too greedy as sooner rather then later Virgin and other pay TV companies might be in for a rude shock as more customers then ever start to desert them.

A) My Virgin Source told me not to reveal the name of that "Something not coming to Virgin Media" online.
B) Info that was lifted was the news of an new app for TiVo viewers that will launch later this year.

I thought we had reached it some time ago but but I was proved wrong. The latest thing has been upping line rental substantially. I hope Vodafone's entry into the market helps keep prices down but the amalgamation of O2 and 3 should see a rise in mobile phone tarriffs as per the experience in Austria. Analysts Jefferies stated “Austria is the classic case in which low-tier (€7-10) price points were raised by €5-10 post-consolidation with mid/high-tier segments also stepping up later.” http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/5b937fea-a...#axzz3QQrHhdOU (registration needed)

I mentioned this on another thread (maybe over on the VM forums) so the app will allow you to:

"Watch your recorded programmes from your TiVo box"

Does this mean MRS restrictions will also be removed so all channels can be steamed between TiVo's? Seems odd that the broadcasters would allow unrestricted streaming via the app which is surely less secure than TiVo to TiVo streaming?

Ben B 07-02-2015 10:39

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2015) Vol. 1

Either that or the same channels that are permitted for MRS will only work for watching on the app
