So in the event of secession, and the launch of the SBS (seriously?), would those of us living in England and Wales lose BBC Alba?

Maybe VM would create a Gaelic pack and try to charge £3 a month the robbing bar stewards.

S4C moved to new strams on Virgin Media?

Last night at about 1am Virgin Media removed both S4C and S4C AD from the Virgin TV EPG for about 5 mins or so before readding them back again.

No reveal date was given.

No update from that insider since last week so need to wait for it to launch so I can remove the DNP order.

But I do know the order will launch sometime by 2014.

Does anyone know if there will be a freeze on updates and new channel launches from Virgin in December?

I seem to remember from last year, and the year before, Virgin tend to shut up shop as such for a few weeks at the end of the year. Most new updates and launches are done in the first 2 weeks of December.

If that is the case then there is only going to be a small window for new channels to launch.

spiderplant 28-11-2013 14:12

Re: Coming soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 6.

There is a change freeze from (I think) 18th December, but if changes need doing for contractual reasons after this, they will be.

There's no ps4s left for vm to offer at the moment , all of the next batch have sold out too.
If vm are going to offer ps4s then it won't be until late 2014 i think after the bb speed increases.

The free sky has got to your head ;)

Although I say that but after 6 years of being with them, I think we may be leaving Tv from virgin. The price rise has pushed it a little (as nobody in the house is a sports fan). We will be keeping the BB + Phone (aswell as a tivo due to the free M package) but switching to Sky for TV full package. They've offered us a deal which because of free boxes and discounts and some other free goodies works out to be just better than 50% off for 12 months. I'll still be on here though!

No bud ;) just honest I can see good and bad points on both sides and I watch a lot on my breaks and lunch at work so sky go suits me better and when I'm up at my mums some weekends I can watch footy on me iPad thru sky go.always been pretty disappointed we TV anywhere even before the free sky,it's just another of vm's good ideas that is not be executed properly :(

My 50% off deal with SKY runs out in a matter of weeks. Looks like I'll be coming back to Virgin to get half price off for 6 months.

SKY are offering all new customers 50% off for 6 months at the moment when taking a 12 months contract.

This guy on Digital Spy is giving away 50% off for a year codes:

I've saved a fortune over the past year. Channel wise SKY is fantastic, especially the wide range of HD. SKY Atlantic has been fairly good but the SKY+ box is a bit limited. SKY are doing a good job currently expanding their list of catch up channels.

Aye though to be fair I think you'd only ever be desperate to watch sports on a mobile. Everything else you can record and isn't live? But on tv anywhere on your phone you can't watch sky sports? So yeah sky wins hands down for having that

They have had months to get the TV for android App out and to make sure they got it right, but they have failed by not having it support android kit kat which has been out for a while now and is only a minor upgrade for the previous version. Many new phones and tablets are now running this version

It's only the Nexus devices that are really, and the Google Editions of the S4 and HTC One.

Most phones (including the normal S4 / One) won't get an update to 4.4 until 2014

It might only be the Nexus phones and the google versions of the S4 & One that have it but overall there will more than likely be at least half a million of them iut there so will be a substantial number. There is no excuse for not having support for Kit Kat as it's only a minor update and just shows the respect Virgin Media have for their customers

Going to have disagree on that - this has nothing to do with how much VM 'respect' their customers.

It's all about targeting a list of devices and Android versions for launch.

The alternative would be to delay the app whilst all devices with 4.4 were tested (which for most of the them only happened 14 days ago)

Now the app is lauched, and compatible with the majority of Android versions, VM can work towards adding 4.4 support whilst allowing access to others.

I don't think the issue is one of respect, it's one of competence.

---------- Post added at 11:04 ---------- Previous post was at 10:55 ----------

Even if you think Virgin have done well and the award winning app is awesome, to launch it on both ios and android with poorly explained delays and in such a way that it's actually made people angry just smacks of incompetence. Whether the development team have messed up, or the pr team have failed, the fact is that Virgin have failed to launch a good product either in a timely manner or to the near universal acclaim that its apparent quality merits. Time and again, and especially since the launch of TiVo, Virgin have found themselves over promising (hundreds of apps, TiVo companion, mrs) and then either under delivering, or taking a really long amount of time to get there, and in some cases both.

Hardly. None of the Virgin Mobile phones for sale are running KitKat I believe (as I assume the S4 would be the normal version) so it's not a major issue, half a million people have these devices but when you proportion that up to the amount of people with these devices who can get Virgin Media, it's probably not even 1000!

Good deal on at the moment:

http://store.virginmedia.com/?buspar...n=E_BRAND_CORE

I'm looking to join on the Premier Collection. £25.00 per month for 6 months, plus £15.99 phoneline, but getting £100.00 off when signing up.

For thos ein the know, does that mean my account with Virgin starts with a £100.00 credit? If so it looks like you're getting the first couple of months free.

Deal done and dusted with Sky. Will be keeping VM BB & Phone and M TV with Tivo but the offer from Sky cannot be beaten by VM. They didnt even try to persuade us to stay!

Sorry Vince but l cannot understand your sentiment here as customers switch from supplier to supplier and back again to get the best deals nowadays and Virgin gain more customers then they lose.

That may be true but with fibre now available widespread and expanding every day both VM and Sky will see even more competition from the likes of BT and Talk Talk , the subscription free offerings have also vastly improved with the likes of YouView and Freesat freetime and the many streaming alternatives like Netflix , Lovefilm and Now TV. Holding onto subscribers will become harder and harder for all companies going forward it certainly makes for interesting times.

It is indeed a competitive market but my view is there is enough space for them all given that everybody has a different idea of what they might want from providers thus also people have different budgets on what they can afford as well and what might be good for the goose might not be good enough for the gander.

While I accept it is compatible with other Android versions the list of devices it works with is not many when you take the Nexus models out of it which have recieved Kit Kat update.

I'm only remaining a triple play customer because the M TV was free of charge, I wouldn't if it wasn't for that, I initially did state that I would remove the entire thing, and he said "unfortunately there is no way we can reduce your package, the only offers we have increases the cost.

This happened to me, they didn't seem bothered I was switching my tv services to sky, they was more interested in me not sending my V+ back and keeping freeview M tv, basically my V+ is stuffed in the back of the wardrobe not even connected, it could be having a wild adventure in a snowy wonderland for all I know.

Yer seems to be a similar pattern,2 of my friends have just cancelled there tv service and just keep broadband one of them was told by there advisor that there not really bothered about customers canx tv as long as they get them to keep bb more money in that.great customer service:(

No disrespect meant, but it sounds a bit unlikely that Customer Service Advisors would say something like that to downgrading customers - sounds a bit apocryphal.

In the month that I had given notice to leave Virgin Media (granted it was nearly a year ago) I received four different calls with various offers to extend my stay,I would suggest this is one very positive side to Virgin Media Customer service,on the other hand when I left Sky the year before they told me "Thanks for letting us know your service will cease on xxxx and your final bill will follow",no follow up calls etc etc, and as I was paying around £85 a month at the time I found this a little strange to say the least.I have since come back to Virgin Media for my phone and BB which I consider to be 100% better than when I left, the 120mg service and Superhub 2 have been faultless since install, for me though Sky have the channel line up and (dare I say it) a better user experience with their STB at the moment, but if they continue to improve their TV Channel line up and TiVo system at the rate that they have done with their broadband I will not hesitate to come back to them with my TV service,so keep up the good work Virgin Media...:)

When I rang to cancel TV and phone, they only seemed interested in trying to persuade me to keep the phone. Their argument was that if I didn't have a virgin media phone I would have to pay a fortune to speak to them. I use Vonage voip (4p/2p a minute) they offered to reduce the phone rental to £2 per month (£24 per year), I'd have to be on the phone to them for over 4 hours for that to be worthwhile. I've rung them no more that 6 times in 4 years. The woman couldn't see the logic.

Similar happened to me. I wanted just the broadband which was going to be £22.50 a month but they persuaded me to keep the phone by saying I could have the phone for just 99p extra per month on top of the £22.50 on an 18month loyalty discount.

They are really only giving you the discount that people paying the line rental upfront for 12 months are given.

I am really annoyed that they have offered the line rental for 99p/£2.00 to the above posters to hopefully keep them . this seems absurd when the majority of people are paying full line rental or payment up front rental. I know people should phone up and see what kind of reduction on their bill they could get by threatening to leave but they should not have to constantly do this to get a fair price for their services. it seems to me that they have just put the prices up again to help pay for the aforementioned line rental bribes to others. robbing peter to pay Paul springs to mind. I will of course be on the phone on Monday to let them know how I feel.cheers john

Please re-read what you wrote, nicko, and see how stupid and nonsensical it is.

goerdiechris said he was offered a phonline for 99p extra per month.

You said that was just the same discount as you get for paying line rental in advance. You pay £120 in advnace for line rental, the equivalent of £10 per month.

How is £10 per month even close to as good a deal as 99p per month?
