Hi! First time poster on here!

I'm in Gosport and my box is updating too. It's been stuck on the "Updating your box... Do no turn off or switch off the power" for about 15 mins now.

Got the update in ipswich. Had to go through the network tests and reconnections to get Netflix. Still it worked in the end after rebooting about 6 times which didn't do anything for me.

That's how Netflix is designed to work.

It's designed that way so that you get the picture straight away; it should gradually ramp up to the highest bitrate for the title.

It's caled 'variable bit rate streaming' (or something like that).

It's always run at Super HD straight away on my LG TV, that's why I was asking, this seems to take a good minute or so to build up. It's pretty useless for shows like Breaking Bad where even the first few frames are meant to be visually stunning!

You can add it as a favourite app, which'll put it in the top menu item under Apps & Games.

I have no problem doing this ... no plans to move anyway, but I am on XL, so assume that this is the premiere package ?

There appears to be no way of taking up the offer via "my Virginmedia" - so how do I go about it ?

Give retentions a ring they'll sort it for you , don't bother with CS as they prob won't know about Netflix yet.

I have read that there are some devices that don't use VBR and the device buffers until it can start playing at full bitrate. Maybe your TV is one of those or just buffers fast?

MutleyF 12-11-2013 12:31

Re: TiVo Update/Netflix

Well, to contradict you, I have just committed to Netflix for 6 months FOC, and the gent I spoke to said that anyone on a loyalty discount will not be eligible for this unless they agree to pay the same as others (which I suppose is reasonable)

He also confirmed the 12 month contract !

Difference of opinion here !!

Existing customers on Premier and VIP can get it by recontracting for 12 months

Those with a Customer Relations offer on top of VIP or Premier have to choose between keep their offer or getting the Netflix offer

Here virgin have an offer for £25 for 6 months premier collection. Can i not sign a new contract using this offer and get the free netflix for 6 months too? I have that same package at the minute without the netflix offer and am paying £47

He told me to go on the netflix website and sign up. dear me ...

Just rang myself, the lady I spoke to was unaware fo the deal. I did speak to someone Scottish, so that was a bonus.

I had "loyalty offers" as well as a few others on here. However, I saved more money by losing my "loyalty offer" than through keeping it.:erm::confused:

Lower monthly bills and 6 months free netflix, smashing!!:)

Just gotta wait for the e-mail with code. I was told the wait would be 5 working days, not just 5 days.

Probably a silly question but, does anyone know if I will be able to use a free trial whilst waiting for the code (provided I get the update before the code that is), or will they register the use of Netflix on my TIVO box thus stopping me using both deals?

Not that is for new customers joining VM

Yeah I would have lost 12 months of £5 discount to get Netflix free.. free trials it is then.

I didnt qualify for free 6 months netflix so was put thro to redemptions.
The also said i didnt qualify as an existing customer but gave me 18 months at a £5 discount for loyalty.
I did agree to a new 12 month contract.
No other changes.
Lot cheaper than 6 months free netflix.

Not sure - I know for existing Netflix customers the code just stops billing for six months, but don't know if you can apply it whilst in the standard free sign up

Well done bud,it worked out better for me to keep my loyalty discount and just keep paying Netflix same way as I allways have ;)

Cheers Ben, will probably just wait until I get the e-mail. No point risking losing the 6 months free. :-)
