I couldn't imagine its worth the money for the broadcasters, at least on satellite they can broadcast to various countries for one fee.

Although not with Astra / Eutelsat 28, which is predominantly for the UK market.

It's not easy to predict how worthwhile it would be adding niche channels such as this. It might not simply mean more users of Pakistani origin adding the channels, it could actually be an incentive for them to switch from satellite.

Both MB and I were informed last autumn that the ITV HD channels were to launch, only for that one to take months to finally happen. No-one's fault on our sides - companies just changed plans.

If they got MRS sorted out i.e., get the most popular channels that most people watch added, then I wouldn't need a 2TB drive; my two 1TB Tivos would do the job.


At the moment, MRS is the most wasted and ineffective USP that VM have.

I spoke to someone from VM and they said; BT Sports will be coming to VM, but they don't know how much it will cost. I guess that means it will be a standalone package like Boxnation, etc.

Was in Preston city centre yesterday and was collared by a old friend who was working on the sky stall,after a interesting conversation regarding sky and vm he told me that sky atlantic will infact be on VMtv within the next few months.sky and vm have now got a new common enemy bt and will see a lot more cooperation between the two company's for the foreseeable future,How true this all is only time will tell but he had no reason to tell me anything different

Sounds like potential anti competitive behavior from SKY and Virgin if true. It could land both companies in very hot water if they are seen to be colluding against a rival. This is not good for the customers. It's this type of behavior that leads to price fixing and strangles innovation.

Sounds like collusion to me, which can be highly illegal.

I personally wouldn't think they will be colluding I suspect by working together would mean that sky will be more open to negotiating with vm regarding missing channels,as for price fixing I think that's going a tad far.lets not forget due to bt's ridiculous bids for premier league sky had to up there offers causing them to up there customers prices.cheers for that bt :mad:

Any extra cost won't be that great. It is not additional programmes, just broadcasting the same content in a different format in which the programmes have already been recorded. If anything I would have thought that extra costs are involved in taking a film/programme recorded in HD and downscaling it to SD and checking the quality of the result.
