I am rather gutted about this the family sharing idea was brilliant.

I think it's a bad decision tbh , maybe they could allow sharing but only if you buy the digital copy

Ps4, more powerful, free games with PS+, it hast got kinect staring at me, cheaper.

I really think the more powerful GPU and memory will make a difference to a lot of games, but it will be a. Wait and see thing for me.

I dont think it will make any difference on the games. 3rd party devs are not going to code the same game twice. Only time it will make a difference is on 1st party games IMO

Re: The Xbox One Thread

Hmm. On the one hand it's good that MS has listened to people, but on the other hand I think it's gone too far.

The Family Sharing and other "cloud library" stuff was a brilliant idea... And now instead we're keeping the exact same system as with the 360.

It's a pity MS couldn't have worked a compromise:

24 hour check-ins: Family Sharing etc. is available.

Play offline using disc-based authentication: Family Sharing is disabled until you go back online.

Oh, and this also means you won't be able to instantly switch from one game to another, as you'll need to put the disc in.

You can turn the Kinect off. It doesn't have to be staring and listening all the time.

I'm probably going to stick with my current plan of Xbox One at launch, PS4 next year.

But the loss of the Family Sharing is very annoying... That was one way to set aside the £80 price difference.

The more powerful issue doesn't bother me in the slightest. I'm looking at the whole package. People playing pc games on a lower end machine have just as much fun gameplay wise as someone with a better system. Xbox live will be a better service , I'm 100% confident of that and thats extremely important to me , hell Sony have proved time and time again they're rubbish at writing software , they've only recently released an update that's bricked a load of ps3's , and from what I remember this isn't the first time !!!.
Kinect doesn't bother me either , it's got some cool features and if someone wants to spy on me and see me say in my underpants swearing at the tv and drinking then that's up to them lol. I think it has some really cool features !!

Well I am pleased. I had made a pre-order for this precise scenario and I can now stick with XBox with my Live account and that control! Not being able to play without the disc is a loss but not a big one and this means we can buy 2nd games. You can always buy the digital versions if that bothers you only this time no need to check online with Microsoft! That online check was easily the worst part of it

Games will still be developed primarily for the Xbox One and then ported to the PS4 and PC, just how it is now with the games being developed mainly for the Xbox 360 and then ported to the PS3 and PC, since the Xbox is technically the slowest machine out of the 3.

Nope. The only way you can fast switch is to play digital downloads.

Any disc-based game would now require the disc to be present in the drive, so if you wanted to switch from one to another you'd need to get up and swap discs.

That is what i thought for NTSC & PAL so i was surprised to see it listed on play Asia yesterday.

I will only buy region free now as it is far cheaper on play-Asia currently at around £40 a game compared to Amazon UK, although i expect that price to drop too.

No news at all.

We don't know if it will be fully supported by one/both...or if it won't even work as a basic passthrough let alone the fancy features they showed at the reveal.

I did ask Sky's Twitter help and they just said they don't know as the console is not even out yet.

Sky has got a deal with MS for content, at least... So even if the whole box thing doesn't work, we'll still have a Sky Go app similar to the 360 one (or hopefully better).

I wouldn't want to play an online game while downloading either, so i guess it would be better to download over night, so you don't hit any STM on Virgin or some other ISPS, as these games i expect will be huge.

I read somewhere where you can play a level of something while downloading the rest though.

Does the PS4 have this feature as i am still planning on getting that until something changes my mind?

I have no STM or usage caps as with Sky but point of DD is to be able to play as you download and even thou they say you can play a level while downloading surely it has to hit a certain percentage to unlock the first level

I loaded Fable III up but it isnt my sort of game and i wasnt impressed at how the graphics often didnt seem smooth as if the refresh rate was mega slow.

Looking forward to AC2 though.

That is always the danger of playing older games...makes them look dated after playing newer games

Interesting article from respawn about how titanfall will initially use the cloud http://www.respawn.com/news/lets-tal...ox-live-cloud/

Something that really excites me about this game is there is no single player campaign , it's built for multiplayer from the ground up !!

That looks good, and dedicated servers may solve my bugbear about hosting :)

Hmmm , don't see why not as its Bluetooth. I have a pair of astro a40s , would be a pain in the backside if I needed to buy a different mix amp !!!

Its custom wireless like the controllers, not bluetooth. Sony's are/were Bluetooth.

There maybe a huge memory performance boost due to recently discovered capabilities for the esram, boosting memory bandwidth from 102 GB/sec to 192 GB/sec which is an 88% increase, so let's hope its true and makes a meaningful difference in game performance.

Nope, apparently Microsoft forgot what they said at E3.

Zynga is a sinking ship, he's either getting a contract with a get out clause or he's an absolute moron.

Dave Mattress has probably been scapegoated over the E3/Launch PR arse-up thus en-route to any port in a storm.

You would be milking your Farmville cows with Kinect if he could make it happen.

Re: The Xbox One Thread

Edit: Did some more research on Don Mattrick. He left EA and shifted to Microsoft and this is solely my opinion but since then EA have gone massively downhill with some of their products. Not ranting and saying their releases are bug filled piles of crap but a lot of them are! naturally with the exception of Mass Effect and others but look at the FIFA series and the Sim City release as examples. When this guy left, EA went in a different direction, introduced online passes, rubbish games and got greedier. FIFA 07 and games around that time seemed great in my opinion.

I was actually quick to link the Xbox One's always online DRM system with this guy but he was nowhere near EA when this business started.

Fifa 07 on the Xbox 360 was a joke, it was just a quick port with missing features.

Port with an entirely new engine and textures that played completely different to the standard version?

EA did indeed remove things, well just didn't put them in to get the game out in time. My main point is the game was essentially bug free then we know how it goes from then on in. Infact i'd be better just saying as soon as online play became a priority, EA dropped the ball in terms of QA and end product quality.
