Oh that. Yes, with the quality of the players we have results this tournament are absolutely shocking. And I don't see us beating Portugal either. We managed one win and three draws in 10 games against them, so chances of us packing our suitcases after Sunday are high. I just hope they manage to play a decent game.

As I heard someone say: I can deal with playing attractive attacking football and losing, I can deal with playing ugly defensive football and winning, but I can't deal with playing ugly defensive football and losing. Let's go back to romantically dying in adventurous beauty. :)

We need to win by 2 goals, which we're not going to do with the current starting 11. So: v.d. Vaart in for v. Bommel, Affelay out, and Huntelaar in. Probably put Kuyt in instead of Robben as well.

Screw the defence. You just need to score more than you let in...

Females arent so good at it either, have you ever tried telling a woman to sit down and shut up?

Good result last night. Did anyone see the lasers all over the French playeri when he was taking a corner against Ukraine? I hope we wont be subjected to that nonsense.

I like him. He's a very good player when in form. There's a reason he plays for Barca. Sadly, he's been injured a lot this season, and he's not producing the goods right now. That's v. Marwijk's problem. He's banked on Affelay and Robben to produce the attacking flair and they're not doing it. There's other options in Huntelaar and v.d. Vaart. It's time he starts using them from the off.

There are other 'forums' for 'stuff' like that you know... :naughty:

;)

As regards England, how often do we have to suffer the 'doldrums' in which, after starting brightly, they can't pass or keep hold of the ball for more than 10 seconds during extended periods of their matches? It's so frustrating!

Still, having said that they scored 3 great goals and managed to come back to win after looking like they'd given up and reverted back into their shells. Credit to Gerrard, whose very skillful effort on the touchline kept the ball in play and created the chance for Carroll to bury so expertly.

Can they win the tournament? Yes, but so can many of the other teams IMHO, as the Greeks proved a few years ago. Will they win? Doubt it very much. To progress very far, they'll need to do a whole lot better than they did for large chunks of last night's game. They'll also probably need a big bit of luck in the mix.

To be honest, I'll be happy if this team just gel and start to show some real promise as a unit. If they go out fighting and giving 100% that's fine by me but if they do their usual trick of losing their way and capitulating, I don't know where we go from there. On paper the individual talent's there but in practice the combination of skill, tactics, character, professionalism, psychology etc. has so often proved to be wanting.

Before the tournament I'd have been happy for England to reach the quarter final stages, now I feel more is just possible but based on previous experience, highly unlikely. To be frank, right now I'd be more likely to bet on England losing 1-0 to Ukraine than them winning comfortably. Time will tell...

Lewandowski hasn't turned up for any of the games, goal or not. Strolling around, ball watching, waiting for something to happen and not bothering to challenge for possession aren't really characteristics you would expect to see from a forward who scored the most goals in his league the previous season.

Absolutely. I'm getting pretty tired with people assuming that just because I'm not supporting England it means I hate them or want them to lose. I just don't care. I'll be pleased if they win the whole thing but if they lose, meh.

Yes there's always friendly rivalry but to assume it equates to hatred is paranoia at its best. I watched the Sweden game and thought all 4 of England's goals were good ;)

There's no doubt you were the better team. We completely lost if after the equaliser. I still can't grasp how a group of players with such talent can fail so miserably. Perhaps things would have been different if we had taken some of those chances against Denmark. As it was, the pressure just kept increasing. Then again, they seemed to lose it after about 20 minutes in every game.

Ah well, they may be a bunch of losers, but they're still our losers.

Perhaps things would have been different if we had taken some of those chances against Denmark. As it was, the pressure just kept increasing. Then again, they seemed to lose it after about 20 minutes in every game.

Ah well, they may be a bunch of losers, but they're still our losers.

To be honest if they hadn't been in Portugal's group or if Portugal were out, I'd have loved to see Holland win it. Was rooting for them in the last World Cup final too.

Like you say, if you had beaten Denmark (and on another day you would have put 5 past them!) you'd have probably taken some huge momentum into the next matches - I like the look of Ibrahim Ilfeni (sp?) by the way. Looks class!

Affelay?

Yes, he's a great player when in form. He was out with injury for most of the year though.

Think the Ukraine are going to regret not scoring when they were in the ascendancy.

How can you tell? I could never see any difference between shrek, and shrek 2 and 3, i think i have same problem with rooney (1, 2 or 3, except I think his borrowed hair seems longer)

Should have left Rooney on the bench.

Yes l agree but the trouble with English managers is they seem somewhat deluded that he is going to be our great saviour when he has been nothing of the sort in a England shirt so far.

Re: Euro 2012

The England game is terrible, we have nothing up front and Hodgson needs his head examined for playing Rooney, he has had ONE shot on target.

We are very poor and should be two nil down, we have been under the cosh from a very good Ukraine side.

We need balls in the box with Carroll on and need Defoe on, we know that both players can score goals, or IF we go out or win by the odd goal, it will be the same ' they were much stronger to break down'

Absolutely, rubbish and the players need to take there fingers out of there back side and start playing football or we are going home.

I'm not convinced this is a very good Ukraine side...it is an ok side.
