It's good to see your website is ever developing, and more changes are afoot. Are Box nation planning anything for "Boxing Day"? I know you've only been up and running for a few months but any chance of a re-cap show covering highlights of the best fights, best K.O.'s and the best of Buncey's rants that have featured on Box Nation so far? Seeing Scott Harrison has finally been granted back his licence, and will hopefully get another chance with Warren and Box nation, it would be good to see some of his world title fights from 2002 to 2005. Some really good memories of title defences in Glasgow that I don't think have ever really been repeated on British TV. In fact a Scottish boxing weekend would be great. Action from the likes of: Alex Arthur Ken Buchanan Ricky Burns Scott Harrison Benny Lynch Jim Watt Buncey knows his stuff and could really help to put together a really good show. Scottish boxing, and it's former world champions, have a real troubled history which makes an interesting story that should be told. Ken Buchanan - His marriage ended in divorce. He's forced to sell the hotel he bought from his boxing money and becomes a joiner. Due to financial hardship he has to sell his title belts and considers a comeback even though he's late into his 60's. Johnny Hill - Scotland 1st world champion. Becomes World Flyweight Champion in 1928 but sadly dies of pneumonia the following year on the day he was due to face Frankie Genaro. Scott Harrison - Enters rehabilitation in 2006 for alcohol abuse and depression. Loses his belt on the scales against Nicky Cook in 2006 shortly after being arrested for five weeks in Spain on assault charges. Jailed in Spain for 2 years in 2009 and plans to make a comeback in 2012. Tancy Lee - Secures British and European honours at 2 weights between 1916 and 1919. He also beat the famous Jimmy Wilde to secure the IBU Flyweight Title. Lee sadly dies after being knocked down by a bus during Edinburgh's wartime blackout in 1941. Benny Lynch - Becomes World Flyweight champion in 1937. Lynch's boxing career was over by the time he was 25 and he battled with alcoholism for the rest of his life. He died in 1946 from malnutrition, aged 33. Oh and an interesting little chap called Paul Weir who won only 14 fights but managed to secure the WBO Minimum title after just 6 fights, the WBO Light Flyweight title after just 9 fights but only managed to defend each title once before defeat. |

Today I watched channel 4's KOTV boxing programme which I'd recorded from yesterday(3:15am)
And they showed a clip from the 1st fight of the Micky Ward vs. Arturo Gatti trilogy of 2002/03 The other 2 fights were both great from start to finish but the 1st was an absolute epic With BoxNation/Facebook page asking for old fights suggestions I thought I'd mention this All 3 are worthy of showing but if they decide to show any of them the 1st IMO is a must Anyway I hope all you lot out there who have BoxNation are enjoying it so far... ;) Rivva |

Have you seen the sweet deals that some lucky SKY subscribers to Box Nation are getting?

All winners will be notified on the 9th of January 2012, except the winner of the Klitschko vs Chisora press conference tickets who will be notified on the 6th of January." Being able to ring walk with Ricky Burns would be amazing. It almost makes me wish I had SKY! Did anyone check out the Best KO's of 2011 on Eurosport last night? It was a good way to polish of a couple of beers and unwind after a hectic Christmas Day. Have a good Boxing Day everyone :D ---------- Post added at 21:56 ---------- Previous post was at 21:14 ---------- Box Nation has been on Virgin now for almost 4 weeks and I've got to say I'm not very happy at how poor the EPG listings are for each show. On the Virgin EPG the description for some of the shows simply read as "Echo Arena" or "Millennium Stadium" without giving any info as to who is actually fighting or when the card took place. Box Nation has not yet been added to Virgins online TV listings so that's no use either. I'm paying £10.00 per month for a channel but don't actually know what's being broadcast day to day purely down to a lack of info. The Box Nation website doesn't have listings and Box Nation doesn't feature in any TV magazines at the moment. What's the best way of feeding this info back to Virgin? Where does the problem stem from? Is it the case that Box Nation aren't providing Virgin with enough information to complete the EPG accordingly? Imagine subscribing to SKY Movies and all the info you got was the name of the film. No actor info, no year of production and no summary of the film. Basically you wouldn't have a clue whether you'd like to watch the film or not based purely on it's name. I'm sure you'd get pretty hacked off about it.....well that's the issue I'm having with Box Nation. |

Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?
@ Rivva
I recorded the ESPN show. It was the Pawel Wolak war against Delvin Rodriguez from about 5 months ago. A total war from start to finish! Whilst I enjoy ESPN Friday Night Fights, which makes it's return to ESPN a week this Saturday, I have been very dissapointed with their lack of commitment to boxing. Sure they offer great classis fights on ESPN Classic but the lack of live or British action has been a total let down. I just wish one of the channels would pick up action from Japan and Thailand, even if on tape delay. There are some really good proper legitimate world champions fighting out of those countries that get zero coverage. Kompayak Porpramook Vs. Adrian Hernandez for the WBC light flyweight title a few days ago was apparently fantastic, a real genuine fight of the year contender. There is a fantastic card on the 31st December from Japan: Jorge Solis Vs. Takashi Uchiyama - WBA World super featherweight title Celestino Caballero Vs. Satoshi Hosono - WBA World featherweight title |

The live action should start pick up again soon: 13th January: Leon Williams Vs. Shane McPhilbin BBBofC British Cruiserweight Title Larry Olubamiwo Vs. Sam Sexton Heavyweight Contest 20th January: Derry Matthews Vs. Emiliano Marsili IBO Lightweight Title Steve Forbes Vs. Ryan Barrett International Welterweight Contest We should also get the following contests seeing Box Nation have a broadcast deal with Sauerland: 14th January Robert Stieglitz Vs. Henry Weber WBO Super Middleweight Title Arthur Abraham Vs. Pablo Oscar Natalio Farias International Super Middleweight Contest There is also a Golden Boy Promotions card on the 28th January we might get too. I must admit however the Box Nation line-up did seem better when the channel was free. As they're still in their infancy, and still trying to attract paying customers, I'm going to give them a few months to prove to me that the channel is worth £10.00 per month. The same repeats over and over again are getting a bit tiresome. |

Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?
To me Box Nation has been good value so far. The live action has dried up as the boxing season has ended for it's winter break and won't return until the middle January.
This month we got 4 live cards: Povetkin Vs. Boswell - WBA World Heavyweight Championship Cotto Vs. Margarito - WBA World Welterweight Championship Golovkin VS Simon - WBA Middleweight Championship Selby VS Simpson - British & Commonwealth Featherweight Championship If Cotto Vs. Margarito was on SKY Box Office for £14.99 I would have probably bought the PPV. So I've saved £4.99 plus managed to watch 3 more live cards too. Fantastic value. Also 4 live cards in December, with the season coming to a close almost 2 weeks ago, is pretty good going. January and February will need to be big months for Box Nation. If you subscribed to the channel on the 01st December when it launched, you'll be able to remove it from your package in a few days time. Maybe going forward you can add and remove the channel from your package based on how big a month it's going to be on their channel. |
Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?
the asian boxing scene has been very active this last month,,,,at least one of their cards could have been broadcast at im sure no great cost.there was more variation when BN was free.Buncey talking up non events isnt going to fool forever.

1. At least 5 live events each month. 2. A more varied selection of fights from the back catalogue. Cleverly Vs. Bellew has been on about 40 times! 3. ESPN Friday Night Fights returns this week. It's live on Saturday morning at 2am. Interestingly it's on ESPN America for the very first time! It's repeated 24 hours later on ESPN and ESPN HD. Hope all of our boxing fans have a great 2012! |
Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?
Just a reminder to all boxing fans, seeing ESPN is free to all at the moment, last nights Friday Night Fights will be repeated tonight on ESPN & ESPN HD at 1:30am. I watched the show this morning, not exactly action packed but the first televised action of 2012!
On The Sun website Frank Warren has confirmed the following: "WBC world champ Vitali Klitschko flies into London on Monday for a head-to-head Press conference with Dereck Chisora which can be seen live on boxnation.tv from midday." I don't know if the press conference is live just on the Boxnation website however I'd fully expect this to be televised live too. Also I've noticed there is no programme information on the TV guide for Boxnation next Saturday from 8pm onwards. This to me suggests we will be getting the following Sauerland card from Germany. Boxnation have a broadcast deal with Sauerland Promotions so it's almost a cert. Robert Stieglitz (40-2-0) Vs. Henry Weber (15-0-1) WBO Super Middleweight Title Kubrat Pulev (14-0-0) Vs. Michael Sprott (36-17-0) IBF International Heavyweight Title Arthur Abraham (32-3-0) Vs. Pablo Oscar Natalio Farias (19-1-0) International Super Middleweight Contest |

21st Jan: David Price v John McDermott 28th Jan: Carl Frampton v Kris Hughes 04th Feb: Scott Quigg v Jamie Arthur 11th Feb: Prizefighter 25th Feb: Dennis Shafikov v Lee McAllister Premier Sports have Guillermo Rigondeaux vs. Rico Ramos for the WBA title this Friday. Seeing this Saturdays Sauerland event from Germany has been added to Box Nations confirmed line-up, I'm certain we will also get the following 2 Sauerland shows in February: 04th Feb: Yoan Pablo Hernandez Vs. Steve Cunningham 25th Feb: Alexander Povetkin Vs. Marco Huck The only other international card I think we have a really good chance of seeing on Box Nation is Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Vs. Marco Antonio Rubio plus Nonito Donaire Vs. Wilfredo Vazquez Jr on the 04th February. The reason for this is the show is promoted by Bob Arum. Cotto Vs. Margarito II, the last big fight on Box Nation, was also promoted by Bob Arum. The last fights of both Chavez Jr. and Donaire were shown live on Box Nation. In fact I remember reading the guy who used to negotiate the TV boxing deals for Setanta is on board with Box Nation. This would explain the deal with Sauerland, and potentially Top Rank as these were the 2 main promotions Setanta Sports had broadcast deals with. In fact Frank Warren at one stage also had a promotion deal with Setanta. Funny how things work out. |

|
Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?
The referee's of today are not as good as they were years ago, Years ago referees were untouchable, nowadays you cannot be sure.
I firmly believe that judges should be placed in a separate area and not by the ringside, as shown in the Khan fight. You have a camera guy on the ring who shows live pictures, you don't need a judge by the ringside. And to me if you have a professional referee from a country that is not connected to any fighter, ie if the fight is in the US then have a ref from say Australia for example, and let him decide. |

Plenty of British, Commonwealth and European level fights to be had. There is a Facebook campaign to get Audley Harrison Vs. Tyson Fury on Channel 5 within the next 6 months. Car crash boxing really, but I'd watch it:shocked: |

I wrote to Box Nation on 26 November 2011, via their e-mail address, to ask about commercial subscriptions for bars.
I received a reply the same day to say that they didn't know  I immediately responded to ask if they could look into this and let me know. They replied, again on the same day, to say that they would be in touch with me after speaking to their legal team. Since then I have heard nothing. Sadly, at our next directors meeting, I shall have no choice but to recommend that we don't deal with this company. I do not expect to have to chase people in order to give them money, especially in the present economic climate :( |

http://www.primetimelive.co.uk/ Still seems up and running. I really doubt this will have much of a future to be honest. They've only really shown 3 fighters on a PPV basis over the last 12 months being Amir Khan, Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao. With Khan going back to SKY, and Goldenboy Promotions back on speaking terms with SKY also, the only real PPV fighter they seem to have access too is Manny Pacquiao. Unless Pacman faces Mayweather in May, I can't see how many boxing fans would pay £14.99 to watch something like Pacman Vs. Marquez IV at 5:30am in the morning. When SKY pulled the plug on SKY Box Office 6 months ago they where making a statement that for now, they didn't see value in PPV boxing. Essentially this is what led to BoxNation being born. With fight fans getting live boxing on Channel 5, Eurosport, ESPN, SKY Sports, Premier Sports and BoxNation there will be little to no appetite to pay £14.99 for 3 hours of action from the small hours of the morning. |

Hi guys - We promised to deliver as much boxing to you as possible, and we're still aiming to bring you two fights a week, including domestic and international cards. We know there are no live fights being shown this weekend on BoxNation and we will do everything we can to try and avoid this situation in the future. We're working hard on setting up deals with international fighters and promoters, which has been made more difficult after a quiet December and January. Please stay patient with us while we work as hard as possible to get the deals in place that will bring the fights we all want to see onto BoxNation for just £10 a month. followed by BoxNation are adding another terrific card to their already packed February schedule. We’ll be announcing the show here on our Facebook page shortly. I agree that the constant repeats of the same fights over and over is getting pretty tiresome. People had great ideas such as old classic fights from the 60's, 70's and 80's. Theme nights like the best of Prince Naseem Hamed or Joe Calzaghe. Documentaries old and new. With Frank Warrens ever growing stable surely they could knock together a 30 minute boxing news round-up every night with interviews, training footage and exclusive fight announcements. Alternatively a weekly boxing news round up on a Friday to compliment The Bunce Hour on a Monday. I'm excited about their February announcement. I hope it's at least one of the American cards. There's 2 on HBO and 2 on Showtime. If I had to choose just one show, I'd personally like to see Marcos Maidana Vs. Devon Alexander however Andre Berto Vs. Victor Ortiz II is a very close second. |

Some news regarding televised boxing.
Boxing returns to Channel 5 on the 18th February with hot young prospect Kid Galahad taking on veteran Jason Booth for the WBC International super-bantamweight title. The undercard will feature the second outing for Chris Eubank Jr. Galahad and Eubank are 2 tipped for the top so this should be a good card. No Tyson Fury on this bill. Boxing also makes a return on Eurosport on the 24th February with the Bigger's Better 10. Alex Arthur wil be making his return on the 14th April 2012 at Meadowbank Sports Centre in Edinburgh. Interestingly this event clashes with Audley Harrison Vs. Ali Adams and Tony Bellew Vs. Danny McIntosh. Who knows what will be televised out of this bunch but surely one of them will be on BoxNation. Finally good news for Ricky Burns today. Ricky has been made full WBO lightweight champion after Juan Manuel Marquez moved up a division, relinquishing his title. |

Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?
sky just announced on ringside they have signed an agreement with goldenboy promotions to show all their fights including maidana v alexander, morales v garcia and ortiz v berto 2. is this the sign of the end of boxnation?

Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?
Well l think the next 6 months will tell us whether BoxNation is going to stay around.

Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?
If Sky sign a similar deal with Top Rank or Boxnation don't keep picking them up individually or do a similar long term deal it could be the beginning of the end for them, add in that there really seems to be unrest in the Warren camp we could be seeing a lot of his big names leaving him, which would just leave them with their Sauerland deal, and small hall FWP & Quensberry Promotion shows £10 a month suddenly don't look so appealing.

BoxNation show good level domestic action, through the Frank Warren stable, and top European action via their deal with Sauerland. Whilst this deal between SKY and Goldenboy Promotions is going to be tough for BoxNation to swallow, there's still plenty of world class boxing to be televised from the stables of Lou DiBella, Don King, Gary Shaw, Dan Goossen and Top Rank. I'm getting pretty excited about this announcement. SKY have had very little commitment to international boxing over the past 18 months. If it hadn't been for BoxNation launching, I do not believe this deal with Goldenboy would have happenend. I'm also hoping BoxNation will now react and secure long term deals with Top Rank and Don King etc... It's a great day to be a boxing fan! |
Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?
Remember when it launched BoxNation promised to deliver 2 shows per week. Well looking ahead, they are going to find it tough to compete with SKY in March. Here's SKY's confirmed list so far:
03rd March - Jamie McDonnell Vs. Malik Bouziane 03rd March - Wladimir Klitschko Vs. Jean-Marc Mormeck 17th March - Kell Brook Vs. Matthew Hatton 17th March - Sergio Martinez Vs. Matthew Macklin 24th March - Ryan Rhodes Vs. Sergey Rabchenko 24th March - Danny Garcia Vs. Erik Morales 31st March - Brian Rose Vs. Max Maxwell BoxNation have: 10th March - Ricky Burns Vs. Paulus Moses 16th March - George Groves Vs. Kenny Anderson 23rd March - Enzo Maccarinelli Vs. Shane McPhilbin For a boxing fan 10 live shows in a month is great but on reflection it can't be good news for Frank Warren / BoxNation that SKY have stepped up to the plate. Here's some quotes from the BoxNation website that might be coming back to bite them on the behind much sooner than anticipated: "Are you tired of shelling out for single pay per view events that fail to deliver? Or unsatisfied with the lack of live boxing coverage on the major broadcast networks?" "It's really simple, for just £10 a month you will get exclusive access to the big live fights from all around the world" "We are going to show you more live boxing than anyone else. (And better boxing)" |

This deal also suggests that Primetime Live have no future. I think this will be a positive deal for BoxNation. Last year Primetime Live were charging £14.99 for Mayweather Vs. Ortiz. For £10.00 fans will get to see the fight plus have access to BoxNation for the reast of the month without any long term commitment, well at least on Virgin anyway. Well done BoxNation :) |

I actually wouldn't be surprised now to see Paquiao Bradley end up on Boxnation too as they seem to have a good relationship with Top Rank, of course unless Sky swoop in with a similar deal that they signed with GBP. |
