Hope you don't get into any bother as you are a brilliant source for us non-employees!

Just got this back:

"The changes to the VIP 20 will be taking place at the start of next year. As previously advised we are currently working on a new VIP package for all our VIP customers to have.

You can upgrade to the VIP 50 with a free install, but you will still have to pay the £20.00 activation charge."

Yes that was my understanding aswell which is why I took the 6 month discount so that in 6 months I could then make a decision on what was on offer, ie stick with vip 20 or upgrade to vip 50.

I wish they would put it officialy on the website. Just phoned and was indeed told £97.50 for VIP50. The bloke then said that the HD premium channels are definitively not included and would cost an extra £7.00. Come on Virgin sort it out.

Hmm so much conflicting info,so if you on the vip 20 and upgrade it to the vip50 does that include the hd channels and the 50mg or is it just the 50mg and you have to pay extra for the hd channels?

You get the HD Premium channels included for one HD box - they should get activated the same day as the 50Mbit broadband gets installed

ah right thanks, and thats all in for the 97 quid with a £20 activation is that right?

I`m getting my 50mb upgrade done tomorrow. I`ve already got the dlink router so I dont need one of those but I will need a usb adaptor for my laptop. Will the engineer bring that with him or have I got to ring up and request one ?

I upgraded to VIP50 from VIP20 last tuesday and had it installed yesterday. HD channels were still not on when i left for work this morning so i rang customer services from work and was told that the HD Premium channels are NOT included VIP50... What do i do now then?

I have to say that I admire the patience of all the people answering what is basically the same question over and over again.

If you are on VIP50 then you should automatically have had the HD channels added to your main STB.

See below an email from the CEO's office:

"Hi
Thanks for your recent enquiry about our new HD channels and how they will affect your VIP package.
The great news is that the HD channels will be included in your VIP package, so you'll be able to enjoy them for no extra cost*. You don't have to do anything as we will automatically add the channels for you.We really appreciate your feedback about the new HD channels, and we hope you're really happy about the outcome.
You can contact my office on <deleted> between 9.00 am – 17.00 pm if you have any further questions regarding this.
Just so you know the changes will be shown on your bill as a £7.00 charge for the HD channels, there will also be a £7.00 discount showing under refunds and adjustments.
Kind regards
Diane"

If you want them on another box "instead" you need to make that known to the relevant department.

If you want them on an "additional" box as well then you will be charged accordingly.

Hope this helps.

Last week after the VIP50 upgrade became available I phoned up and booked it... gotta wait till 18th so they must be busy or low staffed down this way..

anyway having already got the £7 discount and verbally/email agreed to a new contract I got a letter this morning 'Your Welcome Pack' ... gives details of the upgrade and the costings but not actually done the maths yet .. also includes a slip to sign and return agreeing the new 12 month contract ..

BUT .. the cheeky buggers didnt even put in an evelope let alone a pre-paid one ... cheap skates .. LMAO

I suppose everyone else is getting this letter and contract to sign ?

Hi, me to

My contract had expired, August bill, on line, for XL20, + fULL Sky package, Films + Sport
+HD extra totalled over £110 + call charges.

Had to say no- way to that and new 12 mths contract now on offer at less than £ 85.00.

I am accepting it first light tomorrow, I feel the same as others, shame I have to pay postage for acceptance letter.

LOL

Don't give up on Retention, there are more discounts out there than we know about.

Regards

He knew nothing about the HD channels being free for VIP50 users, so i quoted him the email from the user received from Diane.. I kept getting put on hold, and then he asked me for all the channel numbers that i should be receiving, which i would have though he would know.. He then sent a signal to my box, told me to wait a minute and then check them, still didnt work.. Then there was silence for about 10 seconds and then he said there was a fault and that it would be fixed within 24hr hours..

I really dont know where to turn to now..

Are you a VIP customer with 50meg BB? Then theres nothing to worry about, it's now part of that package.

Rather annoyingly I was on VIP and recently got advised to remove some of the phone services (I never use the landline), and manually add 50meg BB + HD subscription - this put me into a new non-vip discount code which leaves me paying 101.99/month with no need to roll into a new 12 month contract.

Does the VIP20 to VIP50 upgrade require a new 12 month contract commitment? If not, am rather annoyed that I was advised of the above only days before a better offer came along!

The Sky Prem HD Channels are only on one box for free

Why is this Virgin Media's fault? You were a VIP customer who wanted to reduce your price. The only way to do this is to break your VIP bundle.

Who says they can not provide 20mb.

If VM are adversiting which they are Epsom have full access to all VM products.

If you signed a contract which said VM would offer 20mb and 2-3 months latter confirmed they can only offer 10mb then your contract is void.

I suggest you contact 151 for Tech help, otherwise there is nothing stopping you upgrading to VIP50.

Did VM say it was just affecting you? If they've done re-pulls etc, it sounds like it.

As I said earlier, I'm not aware of a problem in Epsom as a whole.

I've just been on the phone with CS trying to upgrade from VIP20 to VIP50 for just the £20 activation fee (and the £5.x pm extra) but they were adamant there would be a £35 installation fee too. Even reading to her, verbatim, what Mark Wilkin had posted on their support forum and referencing this thread, both the girl I spoke to & her manager insisted they'd have to charge an installation fee and that "the offer has probably run out".

I asked to be transferred to Retentions whereby the helpful chap there had everything sorted within ten minutes and an appointment booked for the 31st. http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/im...ons/icon14.gif

I can't understand why now after the VIP 50 offer has been about for a week now that some CS staff have not got a clue:confused: the VM-CS agents who post on CF all know about it and have done since the offer began, so why not the likes of the above??

Can some one please confirm the price for the new VIP 50 and what it Includes. My parents are on the old VIP package and dont believe that they are getting good value.

It includes everything the VIP20 package includes, but with 50 Mb broadband and the Sky Movies HD package.

The twitter team seem to have solved my problem :)

Quote:

Thanks for taking the time to get in touch with us, I did try to contact you via telephone however my attempts were unsuccessful.

Looking at your account I seen that your original order was not process correctly, so at no point have the Sky HD channels even been added to your account. That has now been corrected by myself and you should have access to those channels very shortly. At the same time as seeing this error I found that the VIP50 discount also had not been added, so I've also rectified this in time for your bill being produced.

In regards to your router and USB adapter, I'm confused at why you were told someone would drop them off in a few days? Usually for this to happen your original order would have been either left open or split, this way someone could see you needed the equipment. To rectify this in the quickest way I've order both pieces of equipment to be delivered to your home address. All being well you should receive these before the weekend, however should you need some help just drop me a tweet or email.

I'm confident that this should resolve all of your issues, however do let me know if I've missed something off.

Thanks again for getting in touch with us.

Kind Regards

Hi all

Got my VIP20 to VIP50 upgrade today ... or rather I got half of it .. engineer didnt know anything about swapping the V box for a VHD box which i added to the installation a couple days after booking the 50Mb upgrade.
Phone call later and sorted .. CS wanted me to pay £15 postage and install myself but managed to get the postage knocked off but still gotta install myself when box arrives.
So a result ... despite a round about way of doing it ... just gotta test 50Mb connection now to make sure it truely is .. highest test so far has been 3.1MB (31Mb)

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

I rang retentions yesterday about a billing error and I mentioned the Talk Unlimited (which was supposed to have been lowered to Evening & Weekends).

I was told that it was kept because having triple XL was cheaper than having evening & weekends, which I can understand. But then I was told I am on the VIP package even though I changed my package to plain triple XL in order to avoid the £10 a month for a second V+HD box.

Any chance I could do this deal then or (as I expect) have I been misinformed?

Its got to be worth a try, you have a lot to gain and nothing to lose, I'd chance my arm.
Let us know how you get on, and good luck.:)

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

If anyone is still paying the £92.49 a month rate for VIP20 I'd advise a call to retentions. I've just spoken to them about the price difference with the advertised £89.50 a month, and straight away they said they could drop me to this rate and refund the difference for 6 months. They said the discount was not automatically applied, as you need to take a new 12 month contract to qualify. As I've just entered a new contract to get the £7 a month 6 month discount from the CEO office I didn't argue. :tu:

I've put this saving towards adding the Sky HD channels to my 2nd box. Between this saving and the £7 a month 6 month one, it's only cost me an extra £4 a month to add the HD premiums to both boxes. Happy with that for 6 months, and we'll see what the new and improved VIP pack brings next year :D

I rather have upgraded and got the VIP50 for £5 more.when the offer has finished at the end of the month I wouldn't think they will offer this package without having to pay the install and activation, doing it early will insure what ever they decide we won't have to pay anymore for it .

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

Just recieved a "Whats happening letter"

Im on the VIP20 + XXL BB + 3rd Box (V+)

I haven't upgraded to VIP50 as I was given £14 pounds off then they added the Sky HD pack I believe the difference me and big red worked out was 49p so I didn't phone to change to VIP50.

The letter says that their will be a £2 sky sport increase which I knew about. They are removing the ebilling discount which I didn't know about.

But here's the better bit it says they are increasing my discount by £5.99 :shocked: Really its only a £2.99 after the two things above have been applied.

Currently paying 107.99 (Including Ebilling) but from 1st October it will be £105 which is cheaper than VIP50 + 3rd V+ I believe so well done Virgin Media I'm happy for the moment lets wait and see about XXXL BB and Tivo boxes!

This also confirms you are on VIP 50, as all VIP 50 customers will be paying the same standard price of £97.50 for the bundle (excluding any extras and/or negotiation short term discounts)

VIP 20 is still under review so isn't having the discount changed

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

Can someone clarify something for me please?

I was on the VIP20 up to last week when I upgraded to VIP50, now, as far as I'm aware, the only thing VM need to do is send a hit to my V+ box to add the Premium HD channels & have an Engineer swap out the old NTL250 modem for a shiny, new, 50Mb capable one (he's booked for the 31st).

Now here's the question: should I have received the Premium HD channels within 24 hours of phoning to upgrade (as the E-mail from VM stated) or will I get them only after the 50Mb BB is up and running?

Three calls to CS and a couple of request for help on Twitter (yes, I even sullied my soul and made an account on a "Social Networking" site *spits) have amounted to nothing but false promises & ignorance.

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

You'll get them when the engineer installs 50Mbit

Deathmaker 23-08-2010 19:08

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

Right, thanks for that. I just wish they would have said that from the beginning and not led me to believe I'd get it within 24 hours, then there's the misleading email that turned up within half an hour of the upgrade request saying:

Quote:

Thanks for asking us to add premium TV channels to your Virgin Media account. The great news is, Virgin Media Entertainment have approved your order. If you are an existing TV customer your new channels will be ready to watch within the next 24hrs.
Oh well, now I know not to bother wasting my time with CS any further.

well it doesn't add up If i am.

after another 5 months my bill will be £113 a month

113 - 97.50 = 15.50 surely an extra V+ isn't that much?

Unless on the 1st of October my bill will become the same as a VIP50 and the extra box is charged at £9.50 total cost £107. I believe that's what it should be.

BenMcr 23-08-2010 19:32

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

If you are talking 2 x V+HD boxes and a normal box then £113 is correct. This is £5.50 additional box fee and £10 V+HD service fee (both of which are included within the core price for the other two boxes)

If it's 3 V+Hd boxes it would be £123

I got the same message and was all excited but it turns out your account will sit on hold until the new modem is installed as it says above. That said, as soon as my new modem was activated, I had the HD channels

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

Cool, it's another reason to look forward to the install date, then.

Another question, did you receive your router & dongle in the post or did the Engie bring it? My router turned up the other day but no sign of the dongle, yet CS said the Engineer would bring them along with the modem.

jonbxx 25-08-2010 10:09

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

The engineer gave me the router and dongle when he came to install the modem. Both are now in a cupboard as spares if something goes kaput as I'm more than happy with my Belkin N+ router and my laptops built in wireless

Should be the other way around at the moment. Free install for VIP 50 but you have to pay for the activation of 50Mbit

Just spoke to someone in India and she is now saying my account is showing just the £20 activation fee. This was after about 20 minutes of explaining I wanted to know how much I was being charged to upgrade.

VIP50 Current Price Per Month £97.50 From 1st Oct £99.50

VIP20 Current Price Per Month £92.50 From 1st Oct £94.50

Although it’s a shame about the price increase but VM are dealing with Sky so we know what there like - don’t worry VM customers are not the only customers both BT and Sky themselves have increased by the same price.

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

Also VIP with Coming Soon Cisco TIVO Boxes.

Its my understanding that the new VIP package/s will be released along side the TIVO release.

Its not concrete yet so don’t quote me just yet - VM new/existing customers will not be required to fork out hundreds of pounds for the new TIVO box.

Any new/existing customers who wish to upgrade to the VIP packages will get the new TIVO box included in the VIP package with a activation fee of around £75 per box.

(For customers already on VIP packages I have no information on what may be charged, but just a slight hint - maybe drop packages before the TIVO is released and then upgrade to the new TIVO VIP packages - we may not be required to do this as the same activation fee may be applied to all customers.)

I'm in the same boat so as soon as more info comes available I will post but it does seem information is a bit sketchy at the moment.

The VIP 50 price is actually going down by £1 from it's current price AND absorbing the Sky Premiums increase. Adjustments are also being made so that ALL VIP 50 customers pay the same price

Thanks,

If you have ordered VIP50 then one of your boxes will receive all HD channels including the Sky Prem HD channels. i.e. normally VM load the Prem Sky HD channels to the V+HD box and if your 2nd box is the new VHD box then you get all HD channels except the Sky Prem.

Remember you can change this at anytime - its your choice which box you want the Sky Prem HD channels on.

I'm pretty sure BeMcr is spot on with the prices - as usual. I have a letter from VM confirming that the VIP50 package price is increasing, AND the discount is also increasing so the net effect is a £1 decrease in the bill. However when you also also take into account the eBilling discount of £1 is being removed, then teh overall effect is zero, assuming you had the eBilling discount before 1st October.
