They're probably negotiating to get the best deal as they did with the original ESPN channels. I remember we were all complaining about the lack of announcement for ESPN HD, then we all cheered up when VM announced they were including it as part of the XL package ;) It's a paid for extra on Sky so I guess Sky don't have the same issue here.

Its the other way round. VM are getting it before Sky.

A few of the Movie channels will be getting renumbered from the 24th June. Not sure if this will have anything to do with the Sky HD movies?

I think Virgin will move all the Movies channels about on June 24th that have not got the Sky Brand on them - to make room for the Sky Movies HD Channels to launch on an later date.

It is all the non Sky movie channels that are moving. They are moving down to be closer to the existing Sky movie channels.

Please forgive an old man if he has got it all wrong, but I was under the impression not everybody could get the VM HD channels until this security thingy we have have new cards for has been implemented. Is this fully rolled out yet? If not, it is hardly surprising VM are keeping quiet about more HD channels following the outcry when it was discovered some people could not receive them.

Presumably, once this is fully up and running we could be in for pleasant surprises.

All digital customers have the choice of going HD with VM. The NGTV rollout completed at the end of May. :)

That seems odd, surely they would need 10 EPG spaces for the Sky Movies HD, what is going between 415-419? I'd say Flim4 HD is a good guess for 429.

Sky & Virgin Media have realised that Freeview is the common enemy of pay tv.

I'd expect the Virgin1 channel to be used on Freeview for Picnic.

Well seeing as Sky own 25% of CC I am sure it will be there first, nice to know that they are working on a HD channel hopefully that will mean that their SD channel will go widescreen.

Odd. I think the Sky service carries them on 313, 314, (Premiere and Premiere +1) 332 – 339 so maybe VM will run them similarly, albeit in the 400s.

Sky doesn't do a HD version of premier+1. Although with the acquisition of VM's tv channels, I'd be unsurprised if Sky reuse those slots on its own platform for more HD channels including films.

I'll take the BBC over Sky or Fox news every single day of the week, the BBC are far more scrutinized for political fairness than Sky news, as regards Fox how anyone can say they are un-biased is laughable, they are so far off to the right they are in danger of biting their own backsides.
What did Murdoch say recently? that he'd like to see Sky news follow in Foxes footsteps.

That is the beauty of having a choice...and what is one mans' beef is another mans mutton.

But there are, and always be some sort of left/right bias no matter what News Channel is being talked about......and that is democratically correct as the choice of what we view is then down to the individual, and for us to make up our own mind if we woant to continue to watch.
But whether the person watching notices any bias will largely depend on their own political leanings....A right winger will not, in general see a right wing bias, as the views being expressed are in line with there own, so it goes no bias is will be conceeded...and the same goes for a left leaning viewer watching a perceived left wing bias.

I'm in a bit of a juxtaposition, I openly admit I have a left leaning, yet, I will rather watch Sky News than BBC News 24 (yet for a main news broadcast, I do prefer BBC)

The moral of the story is that you pay your money (as long as your not a Cable/Sat thief!!!) and you takes your choic

just been watching SyFy HD and found out VM viewers are getting screwed over again !!!!

not only are we not getting ESPN America HD (launches Monday on Sky) but ther e was an advert for Hallmark channel HD launching 28th june on SKY. the best bit was the sentence underneath that states :-

"Virgin Media viewers will be uneffected".

looks like another channel thats not coming to VM !!!!

we shouldnt have to contact VM to get then to think about carrying HD channels.
VM are a carrage company its their duty to customers to offer them as much content thats available, if they cant to that then VM clearly are not doing their job right. it will be more to do with the fact that VM are unwilling to pay the carrage charge rather than dont know about ESPN America HD.

saying all this i would of thought the ESPN America HD would of been automatically added to the ESPN package especially as VM have a special carrage contract. it strage the VM are either not bothered about carrying the channel or ESPN are insisting that ESPN America HD becomes a premium pay channel with VM.

I would say the rebranding would take place when the World Cup ends and Adrian Chiles (and possibly Christine Bleakley) take over the breakfast show, as this would make sense.

How do we know that VM are not already in negotiations with ESPN? Infact I would say that they hae to be.

The same thing happened last year with ESPNHD, $KY announced the carriage deal but VM stayed silent until they suddenly trumped $KY by saying they have secured the deal to offer it free to XL. It could be that VM are working for the same thing.

I contacted ESPN by email some time ago who replied saying they were in talks with Virgin but talks hadnt progressed far enough to make an announcement.

Sky, Virgin Media and BT are all appealing the judgement and a case hearing at the Competition Appeal Tribunal will take place next Friday (25 June).

This is due to the OFCOM ruling, not sure about what deal they have come up for the sale of the VMTV channels ? But OFCOM said that if SKY were to move most of the sports to 3+4 that they would include them in the wholesale must offer!

Thats not true VM would be shouting at the top of there lungs, plus isn't there a World cup freeze with no upgrades or channel adding in case it balls up the channel for some customers.
