The managers tend to deliver specials on the strike days. In our office they have been cleared every day. The reason they have suspended the guarantee part of the special is so if there is a sudden surge in demand they are not obligated to deliver them.

I wonder if you could take the Union/Royal Mail to small claims court? I wondered this about expenses I incurred as a result of this STUPID strike.

I thought Parcel force were a separate entity and not on strike?

In other words the CWU know if they keep up what they are doing they will lose what little support they have left. If they were to continue they would have messed up a lot of people's Christmas's and then they would have been finished support wise.

Correct, Parcelforce are completely separate to Royal Mail in the delivery sense, only owned by the same parent company.

Earlier on today when I went to the Post Office, they had indeed suspended the next-day by 1pm guarantee, and weren't giving any part refunds for the no-guarantee either. Since the strike's been suspended, should mean it arrives tomorrow.

The next time a postman starts to whinge or wants to strike i'm going to smack him around the head with a large bat.

Twice now they have decided to dump parcels on my doorstep, ring the doorbell and run off. Now I can appreciate that they are too lazy to wait the 30 or so seconds for me to come to the door, or want to finish their round as quick as possible so they can go home. Its nice for them, but not so nice for me who sometimes has to venture outside and then has to go through a lengthy battle to get replacements sent out (IF it is insured), and not so nice for the people whose Christmas presents now belong to a passing thief.

I could complain of course, but then all my mail (well, all except the junk mail) would then be redirected to the large bin adjacent to the sorting office.

Please, if you are a postman reading this and really don't want to do your job properly, please move aside and let someone through who does want to do it.

Yep i am in the process of reordering something because a postman couldn't be bothered to wait for me to sign for it so left it on my front doorstep on a main road and now they are not sure if they will get stock back in for xmas so yeah thanks a million off me as well. Rang the local sorting office to complain and got "oh well it's that time of year" what there is now a time of year when it's ok not to do your job properly guess someone forgot to tell the rest of the country .

Yep in one way or another it's all gone to pot ain't it. I see no long term future for Royal Mail unless someone remembers that without any customers none of them will have any jobs to strike over.

I add these comments are directed at both management and staff on a "if the cap fits wear it" basis. And I fully realise that the majority of "Posties" do the best they can.

The post men scream for our support when they are going on strike, Then as soon as they don't need that support they go back to screwing us all over.

Rather than blame the postie I'd say the expensive machine tells them how much they should be doing in how long for them not waiting about + the fact they are already doing loads of extra unpaid hours...

But isnt it a case of swings and roundabouts? Little or no post they finish early and get paid for the full shift so when there is a lot of work on and their work runs over their shift in effect they have already been paid.

Not if you have been paying attention to the thread it isn't swings and roundabouts, it's doing more and more work and not getting paid a penny piece for it, there are no early finishes.

Did anybody watch panorama this week?

I was expecting a good old postie bashing but it seems to put us in a pretty good light.
