I imagine The Sun suggested that Richardson should be in the squad.

Good job too. Used to be a decent ref, but his refereeing of the Everton game last week left a lot to be desired. Obviously his footballing and business judgement have left him at the same time!

I'm off to Cardiff on Saturday. 2nd time in a week. Went for the rugby league final on Saturday. I am pretty confident we'll win this weekend. We always seem to do badly in friendlies under Sven. Probably because he chops and changes so much, but he's done ok in serious matches so far. |

TBH I think Newcastle have a poor coaching regime, maybe Spurs will get more out of him. Linked with the import of Michael Owen, I think it is a good peice of business on Freddie Shepherd's part. Sorry Punky ! |

Spurs bought him for 7m, that's 2m profit Newc made hsvign signed for 5m. We get 10% ie 200k. We have similar deals on the sales of Prutton, Dawson and Reidy but IIRC that's 25% flat on the total fee. JJ is the first of our academy prospects to make sell-on money. __________________ Quote:
Under the right regime he'll be coached well and he'll be a decent player. Jol seems about right. And he'll have Daws and Reidy for company too. We seem to be Spurs' feeder club atm :erm: |

thanks for the welcome back people.....orbiting venus was a blast.
jenas is a decent player and i think he will do well at spurs.....price seems a bit high to me though. as for kieran he is going to be a top player , i hoped he would have stayed on at west brom for another season though to ease his breakthrough into the england team.....his chances at united will be more limited for another year i think. i am still crossing my fingers and waiting for the return of the legend that is ole |

Re: The Football Thread 2005/2006 Season
nffc, have you any opinions on a guy called Craig Westcarr ?
He is a trialist for CUFC and played on Tuesday night and banged in a couple of goals, ex Nottingham Forest apparantly. If not, then never mind |
Re: The Football Thread 2005/2006 Season
Westcarr... hmm... yes he is ex-Forest but he didn't do much for us goal-wise.
To be fair to the lad he didn't get much of a first team chance... and has a slightly risky attitude, but with the right manager he'll definitely do it at that level. He's talented, youngest ever Forest player and that, just got a bit bigheaded I think. TBH, you could do worse... __________________ http://www.soccerbase.com/players_de...playerid=28581 |

Reading the Mirror this morning, good to see their usual practise of giving disproportionate coverage to the England team ahead of the game tomorrow, as if it's an "us and them" situation with Wales.
I suppose the fact that I pay as much for the Mirror as someone in England doesn't give me a reason to expect anything different  |

One thing though... why the Mirror, I've only bought that once and that was when I knew they'd exposed Alan Rogers et al acting like ***** in Nottm and tarnishing the name of Forest... :erm: |

Just been out in Chester...In Brannigans. And met some of the England Under 21 squad, spoke to Carson and Welsh, and Jon Stead. Also saw Anton ferdinand on the pull (amusing) and Glen Johnson. Resisted the urge to tell him he's ****. Jon Stead was a nice fella. John Welsh was there too, spoke to him for a bit, really nice fella, although he was downin the Bud like there was no tomorrow! Few others there too, Carlton Cole... Michael Dawson on the pull and succeeding...they're all big *******s. A good night was had by all Just wish I had their cash

Re: The Football Thread 2005/2006 Season
We dominated the game, but were weak in front of goal but that is usually typical of a 4-5-1 formation, I think we were also nervous due to a stupid press this country has that is hell bent on putting pressure on the best manager we have had for decades. End of the day we won job done. The press need to learn that freindlies results dont mean **** and sven qualifier record is outstanding.

Something needs to be done about our team. A revival cannot be too difficult surely?
