Running a system update on Pixel phones takes bloody ages even when not using it.

They aren't very good at notifying new updates :(

you mean the notification saying there is a new update and the nags to reboot your device outside of hours is not good at notifying? I have no issues with being told

I don't receive updates available notifications. I have in the past but they are delayed. I wish they could push instant notifications.

No I mean when I know there is an update available not from my phone but from browsing online, so I go to System and update settings on the phone and and start the download and install there, it then takes an eternity before it's completely installed.

It was so much quicker when I had a Samsung phone, so on a Pixel it is very annoying especially if I have to leave to go to work or if I do it late at night because I need to remember to avoid that because of alarms needed and Android Auto.

Edit - it wasnt too bad this time but it still took the best part of 30mins.

I seem to read about them online before I get a notification, it is very rare the phone notifies me before I do it manually.

Yer, it's not the download taking the time it's the update installing, even when I'm not using it, and I know this is a Pixel thing.

You'd think a small package update would be quicker to install

Whats the rush haha my Pixel 9 pro XL tells me when there is an update and it installs it after 2am in the morning . Totally up to date and I have to do next to nothing

I explained that I can't have the phone installing at night I use it for Alarms plus I need a full charge and don't want it plugged in when sleeping. :)

So I often do the update when I'm not in a rush and not at work but it still takes far too long and I'm left shouting at the phone....come on for god sake I've got work in 2hrs and the install bar still looks to be at 5% and hardly moving. Lol

Mine completed in 20 odd minutes. It did however brake my ethernet tethering, I had to reboot the router :(

I realise that the Tax system in the UK is complicated.

2 letters from HMRC. One says 24/25 I paid £26 too much tax which I can claim back. The other for 25/26 says they think I will owe £42, so they fiddle my income to get that back.

They could have just taxed my State Pension, but that would raise too many pensioners' hackles, I suspect.

No, it's just simpler to take it from another income source (such as Private Pension) and match the State Pension against the Personal Allowance, as it is more likely to be less (not in my case, so I get a K code against another of my Private Pensions (to balance it out)).
