If there were an engineer I think he would be pee'd up rather than off ;) :D

Simple, the UBRs are on a different power circuit. For instance, last time we had a power failiure at work, half of Greenwich lost it's power, and so did half the campus where I work. The other part was unaffected.

Not much good when the UBR's have power but your house nearby doesn't :D

You asked What's powering the UBRs.. I offered a possible solution. The same argument could apply to houses as well.

It was a facetious comment, but point taken!

Well "I" saw the funny side ;)

... but I think we can be thankful for them staying up, as houses tend to recover from power failure a hell of a lot better than IT equipment :D

To save trawling through the whole of this thread i was wondering if anyone could answer me a quick query. I have just upgraded from 1Mb to 4Mb this morning (my BB goes through a Samsung SMT 2100C) but I'm only getting 2Mb. Does this mean my area has not yet been upgraded or do I need to call back? My area is Stoke-on-Trent.

I did the same upgrade to a Samsung 2110c 2 weeks ago, still getting 2MB. It just means the upgrade hasn't reached you yet. Should be by the end of the month.

Those do not indicate when tier upgrades are happening. They are 'business as usual' notifications only, so those people in the areas being worked on shouldn't hold their breath ;)

Indeed... I can confirm this because I have seen the status page so many times and this happens all the time... I'm 99% certain that this is not the upgrade, otherwise it would say so.

Somebody poated a statement from NTL about the first areas to be upgraded, but I am not sure where to look for the next statment of the next areas... any ideas anyone?
