I Know my parents they would not touch anything like that yet when Sky came to check it was fine every time. This went on for years until Sky then started just taking money from my mams account for her not having the box connected.

I had already phoned Virgin got my parents a deal before canceling the sky. I was on for almost 2 hours while the arrogant douche on the other end slagged off virgin media and would not take no for an answer. In the 2 hours i said i wanted to cancel over 30 times.

I have never had anything but a professional reply from Virgin when changing or canceling services

Nobody would ever keep me on for 2 hrs if all I was looking to do was cancel.

People will always have differing views and experiences on customer service , look at the Ofcom complaints figures to get the average.

I can only give my experience with Sky and they have always been helpful and on numerous occasions given me follow up phone calls.

I wish I could say the same, when I canceled Virginmedia I was lied to, ignored and even hung up on.

Firstly I was told if I went to Sky I would only get 2mb broadband as that's all Sky offer, then I was told it's not even sky's service its renamed BT adsl. Then I was told I would lose my picture from Sky TV at least once a month due to weather an potentially every time it rained. I was told if I had a line fault BT would charge me over £100 just to come an look at the fault and even more f to required fixing.

Then I thought I had disconnected and a week later a new contract dropped through my letter box. Then on ringing up to cancel for the 2nd time (after a previous 50 minute phone call) whilst being transferred for some reason the line got dropped. Anyway after a total of 3 phone calls and nearly 3 hours on the phone............

I went with sky on their LLU ADSL 2 at 19mb then their fibre service and and connected @80mb and I think the picture has dropped once in 3 years. An as for the £100 call out fee, I've never had a single issue with my line so never needed a call out. But it's untrue anyway,

Both superb shows that do well in the USA that haven't been picked up in UK.[COLOR="Silver"]

I don't wish for the vast majority of Sky employees to lose their jobs, which is why I hope that if it was taken over for a song, the vast majority would keep their jobs.

Sounds about right for Sky.

Same here, but some people are too timid, shy or afraid of being seen to be impolite- which Sky ruthlessly abuse.

Can anybody here receive 'That's Oxford'?

Rumours are going round that they have today gone off air.

Just like Virginmedia sending unsolicited doorstep "thugs" trying to get my wife's 82 year old mother to sign up to 200mb broadband even though the area is well known for being over subscribed with "live" fault codes. Even on the official VM forums the forum staff admit the area is suffering "utilisation" issues but still try to sell vulnerable people a service that cannot be provided.

We have complained to the relevant bodies and emailed BBC watchdog, but nothing back yet.

EDIT I also know of a very recent case where a Virginmedia doorstep thug advised someone to use a different name! I have advised they ring the sales guy and record the meeting.

Sounds like commission hungry sales people again.

I know of a man well into his 80's, he didn't even have a computer, yet a salesman had persuaded/pressured him into taking a very high speed broadband service.

He went to his neighbour for help as he didn't understand what was going on. The lady rang VM to explain/complain/cancel.

They initially tried to fob her off with the "we can't talk to you as it's not your account", "data protection" blah blah.

She persisted and eventually got it cancelled.

Does anybody here live in Oxford? I'm keen to know if That's Oxford is still off air on Freeview and/or VM (if they carry it).

Is this thread still called 'Coming Soon to Virgin Media TV' or have I somehow entered a parallel universe?

The only thing coming soon seems to be more price rises...

Personally I feel with all the channels people are asking for, I don't think QVC extra type channels are not a priority. They are focusing on even faster broadband, aging TiVo, no real new channels to shout home about, if the only thing coming soon is even faster broadband and QVC God help us

QVC will pay money to VM so they will be a priority for the company. A new Tivo and enhanced TV offering look on the cards for 2016.
