Well that doesn't really surprise me because as far as I know, Amazon has not yet responded positively to VM's approach for a presence on their platform.

There's only one channel that would 'blow my socks off'! And you know what that is :D

Isn't this the reason for Market Research...so TV companies can justify a launch of a TV Channel if it is proven that the majority of people would want/pay for it.

I hope they do not go by what the 'majority' wants! If that were the case, we would get very few intellectual type channels and more reality channels.

We need to have the maximum choice of content; that is what is important to me. Whether delivered by broadcast channels, VOD or streaming, I really don't care.

I'd say satisfying.

I've decided that if Amazon Prime Instant Video doesn't come to my TIVO box by the end of the year, I'm getting an Amazon Fire TV box. I'll probably ditch my Sky Sports subscription to pay for the monthly subscription!

All of the content that you/we/the customers want, all comes from demand. VM won't deliver unless there is demand for certain content or a way of delivering that content. They will use Market Research as their tool of finding this out.

If they find only 10% of customers want to use VOD or Picturebox then ultimately it's not worth it. Therefore going with the majority they can aim to please the maximum number of customers as possible...and those that arent satisfied...well, we will have Market Research thrown back in our faces haha

Virgin Media have already put out feelers with Amazon to carry Prime; it's not that they aren't interested! In the end, it's down to Amazon whether we get carriage on TIVO.

Yes, you're right, I've been reading about it and I like what I have read. I will put it on my Christmas list!

Yeah you're right...Also at the end of the day, we could have the whole customer base wanting a certain aspect to come to VM, but if they arent willing to play ball and pay the money then we won't get it anyway.

I'd be interested in Prime if it was part of the XL TV Package, not sure I would subscribe if VM just secured the App.

I prefer the ease of my smart TV has all the apps without the extra wiring and much faster to access apps over a STB failing that I'd go with fire TV or one of the other good streaming devices.

A lot of people have consoles hooked up to their tvs which also carry the apps, specially Netflix and Prime.

But I get your point of them being all in one location specially for ease of use.

To be honest most Smart TVs will become dumb eventually - as the TV manufacturers move on to the 'next' platform

At least with TiVo (and other add on boxes) it's easier to update them to ensure you still have access to the apps

We have an older Samsung in a bedroom what still seems to get app updates however I take your point , for me personally though the STB's are just too slow when using streaming services , my YV box whilst acceptable is considerably slower to load and navigate. At the end of the day all devices will become obsolete at some point however I agree with a streaming box your losing far less than a TV.
