Yes but the way it is done, and has been done forever so far, is how I described it.

As I said, that's how broadcasters have always worked.

That won't help my Tivo set itself up correctly, will it ;)

There may be an argument that "the way it's been done" really should change to a more up-to-date way but this simply cannot happen whilst paper-based TV listings magazines are still selling well.

As with all things they evolve. The statement still holds good its Virgin/Tivos problem. They need to stop playing catch up & get ahead of the game. For the life of me I cannot remember what the EPG is called that responds to this:confused:
However that said, its not something I will lose sleep over :D

Right. And what about Sky+ and the other EPGs out there? It's not one rule for them and another for VM. NO-ONE currently gets finalised schedules more than two weeks in advance.

You are referring, of course, to a dynamic EPG and VM's lack of one is a possible further problem but, as I am mainly thinking about those people who don't buy a newspaper, don't look on-line and don't own a DVR. How are they supposed to get to know the schedule?

This new channel will only have it's schedule decided the week before broadcast. So how can it be listed in the current crop of paper-based TV listings magazines?

Channel 4's bold new channel aimed at reinventing catch-up television will launch on all the main UK digital television platforms on July 4, it has been confirmed.

The channel will launch across all major television platforms on July 4, Channel 4 has confirmed. Channel numbers for Virgin Media and Freesat are not yet known, but it is thought that 4seven will launch at channel 47 on Freeview in post-digital switchover areas, and replace More4 +2 on Sky at position 269 on the EPG.

True. But that would mean having WLs for all C4 programmes as opposed to a SL. Meaning more work for the customer/consumer/end-user. Not ideal :)

What I meant was that if someone is interested in watching a show then it would be on their WL already and as this channel only shows old shows this shouldn't mean any extra work fot the user.
