I can't see the STV channel being made available south of the border, but maybe their on demand service will. Not that such a development would help you with live sport.

You can watch STV on some devices now, as long as you enter a Scottish postcode.

I just mentioned the Player, not the channel. The channel is irrelevant in the context of this sports content, it's being shown on the Player.

So the rest of the UK are unable to see these matches through that platform. A bit unfair!

Like I said the STV Player isn't on Virgin Media in Scotland yet. And as OLD BOY says you can just use a Scottish postcode on other devices that support the app. ITV Hub works like that in the opposite direction. VM never said in the recent STV Press Release how it would be implemented distribution wise... it's only an assumption.

You can get the STV player on Prime as well. I'm in Scotland so not sure if that is region specific as well. Eleven Sports 1 and 2 are on it now. Hope they are going to improve the picture quality though.
The information says that there will be 14 live matches on this weekend as an introduction and then two games a week from Spain and Italy.
Trying to watch Barcelona v Real Madrid at the moment but the PQ is very poor.

Is it being shown in SD, then?

Size of screen has a big effect on PQ - I assume your TV is considerably larger than your laptop

Streaming in SD is not the way to bring the punters in!

I gave it a try and found the picture to be excellent. Eleven Sports have a black friday deal. £39.99 for a year pass.

I tried on the STV Player and I’d say the picture is adequate. It’s in line with the quality of TV from Sky on PS4, but both are below the standard of broadcast HD for fast moving sports.

Does anyone know if Eleven subscriptions will be available to watch on STV player? Or is it just the free games and back to having to cast?

It's not a streaming issue by the sound of it. Broadcasts also look pretty grotty on a big screen if they are in standard definition.
