10meg has been rumoured to have plans to have the upload increased to 1meg. it hasn't happened.

i rung NTL customer services yesterday and she explained that i had been upgraded to 4mb and that if i was still only getting 2mb ring techical support and so i did. the guy there explained that everyones account had been updated but they still need to update the servers to give the actual speed which will all be done by the end of june....

Re: New Speeds - June 1st

I read Mick's answer about Set top boxes but was just wondering if any swansea or the upgraded areas have bin upgraded on STB's yet? I am on merseyside so still no upgrade yet :( but when the upgrades come around here, it would be nice to know if the stb's are getting sorted just a couple of days later. If this is the case then happy days but, if not, omg why me????

Re: New Speeds - June 1st

Cardiff, Swansea and Belfast do not have broadband through set top boxes, they are stand alone only areas.

Re: New Speeds - June 1st

Thanks fingy. This does not look good for us STB users then does it? I always wonder why certain areas get upgraded first and that shows why. I hope that this does not lead to troubles though. I believe that the Samsung STBs can go as fast as 6mb so it may not be a big prob for NTL.

I am in the merseyside area so does anyone know how i find out what NTL area that i am in? please don't say merseyside lol.

Re: New Speeds - June 1st

I wish I was getting some of those speeds above - due to a power failure locally (See the Service Status Page) 10Mb in Nottingham currently looks like this:

Thu, 8 Jun 2006 19:44:32 UTC
1st 128K took 16984 ms = 7717 Bytes/sec = approx 64 kbits/sec
2nd 128K took 40891 ms = 3205 Bytes/sec = approx 27 kbits/sec
3rd 128K took 6141 ms = 21344 Bytes/sec = approx 178 kbits/sec
4th 128K took 17218 ms = 7612 Bytes/sec = approx 63 kbits/sec

If the leccy's failed, what's powering the UBR's? Is there a peddle powered emergency generator in the exchange being peddled by a rather pee'd off engineer :)
