Just an head up Media Boy HQ has seen big information from Virgin Sources but we need to put under DNP.

"Big Information"...Would this fall into the "BLOW YOUR SOCKS OFF" category of DNPs? :D

I've been thinking that the new owners of virgin media appear a lot more sh*t than the previous owners. No channel launches, big time rises to bills etc. so the new owners seem to be treating virgin media as a gravy train. Shame I thought we'd be getting more treats

Whether you think it's 'crap' or not is a different thing.

The argument was that Virgin Media haven't launched new channels since LGI bought them, which is clearly wrong.

Except your 100+ bills aren't just for those.

To be honest, you can't have a TV base of millions of customers and then launch a channel everyone likes.

BT Sport launched after the LGI takeover completed however no everyone likes that, so wouldn't think that 'justifies' anything in regards to their costs.

Isn't this the reason for Market Research...so TV companies can justify a launch of a TV Channel if it is proven that the majority of people would want/pay for it.

What we want to know is BT Sport going to be staying in the XL pack because if it ain't then one suspects you will have to have something up your sleeve to replace it.:)

Right, but 'a majority' isn't everyone.

I know...but I agreed with you, that you couldn't please everyone with certain channel launches. I just tried to back it up by saying that Market Research was a tool for the companies to explain this to their customers

Ben i know you're trying to help but we've had two years of price increases above inflation.

2014 had basically no new channel launches
2015 so far has nothing new launching

We've got another ABOVE inflation price increase coming. BT sport is coming out of the XL package in 18 months lets be brutally honest.

I'm 29 years old so i'll take the "erm what about these" as a reasonable comment as i know what you're referring to. my mum as a 60 year old woman wouldnt nor would the majority of virgin media customers know what on earth youre talking about (most dont have tivo/or know about the apps folder)

1) pay extra money for spanish and channels from portugal
2) accept above inflation price increases without actual improvements

Fact is the price i was paying in 2013 was fair. Since then i've had sod all except for a few HD channels but had 4 price increases. So yeah a virgin media response of

"erm what about these"

then referring to some spanish channels in an odd little app tucked away on tivo isnt helpful. in fact its shocking that its being used as an excuse ?!??

2014 was mainly about the Sky agreement and increasing parity between TV Anywhere and the TV packs

The majority of Virgin Media's TV customers do have TiVo.

There have been two price main price increases under Virgin Media's control since 2013 - one in Feb 2014 and one this month.
