The Broadcast report was one of those I'm referring to. The back haul services was a separate report and simply demonstrated increasing co-operation between the companies.

It wasn't me who raised this matter again, I was simply answering a post, and on the contrary, if SA does turn up in January, it all stems from those negotiations. It has taken so long to take into account the launch of the Now box if I am right about this.

Aye it makes sense oldboy. I still think this is what happened with bt sport and virgin media. a sort of we'll do the deal to be in XL but keep quiet, announce it on the day of launch and we'll use the time to bang our drum that bt sport is exclusive to BT and how VM customers cant get it.

If so its a strategy VM have done before to acquire channels. Once the christmas period is over the missing sky core channels could be announced...fingers crossed. always good to discuss though!

If they replace BBC 3 with BBC 1 +1, the plans are for a part-time service from 8PM, conveniently missing the early evening regional news variations. A Broadcast report isn't a guarantee that something is going to happen. They will take a good journalistic approach and report what seems to be a possible outcome of negotiations taking place at a given point in time. The actual outcome of the negotiations may actually be very different to what is reported at an early stage. The report to which you refer would have had little merit if the suggested outcome didn't materialise within, say, 3 months. After 6 months the validity period has well and truly expired. To trust it after around 18 months is incredibly optimistic. But we can all dream. ;)

If bbc3 goes internet only i hope there would be a streaming option for freeview, like MotorsTV and Vintage TV, i'd be happy with that.

Fair points. I assume the Broadcast article in question this one from 27 June 2013? As far as I'm aware, it was the only article on the subject.

It may well come, but it will have nothing to do with those negotiations mentioned in that report. It will be due to the customer surveys sent out by e-mail to people (a couple of us on here received them) asking what customers wanted in return for a big price increase. Plus they would have had to cave into Sky's asking price too. If VM got Atlantic at a reduced price, all the other suppliers would want it at that price too.

Indeed. From the questions I was asked, we could a receive a number of different services. SA, was just one of a number of options. We may of course get nothing.

It will be nothing. There's no need to soften the blow of price rises in February, because everybody will be used to the idea by then and since nothing was announced or rumoured around the time that this year's rises were announced I, personally, think it's fair to conclude that they aren't linked to anything other than the ongoing provision of current services.

I stand corrected. However what are you going to watch it on? You can`t watch on a tv set as it is able to receive live tv. The same with a laptop/pc. I can`t think of anyway of watching catch up without live tv not being possible to watch.
