The advert I watched states 5 SKY Sports HD channels only on SKY. Sure we'll get our 2 here at Virgin, but you'll need to join SKY to receive all 5.

As faras l know, Sky haven't increased there prices, and don't normally until September, and this has been like natural, and l have been with Sky a very long time.

Normally we get a letter telling us of the increase, as soon as l get the letter, l will let members know.

Perhaps this is not thread for this but......

Im a bit confused by this talk that BT Vision will be 'out of pocket' because Sky are increasing their prices to Sky Subscribers.
Surely BT Vision's deal was completed at a specific price on expected take up and they have priced it accordingly to it's own economies of scale to its customers, and the SKY Subs price increase will have no effect whatsoever on BT's prices.

I would be gobsmacked if the carriage deal was done where a Sky sub rise had to be absorbed by BT.

From what I understand, the wholesale price to BT was set by Ofcom - but linked to the Sky price. BT set their prices based on the Ofcom price, Sky then put the prices up by £3 to their own customers - which meant the wholsale price to BT went up by a similar ammount. Apparently this doesn't affect VM as they have a seperate deal with Sky (which I don't fully understand).

I always think that the lower the price, the more customers are going to join, which in turn makes more revenue anyway.
Which is what BT have probably thought.
Putting it up is going to put people off. £3, although quite a small number, is bit of a hike when it comes to billing.

Some 'experts' over at DS reckon that this effects VM as well, since the price VM are paying is the wholesale price as outlined by OFCOM.

And since that wholesale price has just gone up.... :erm:

Right people, I have this from a good source.

Virgin will announce in the next 2 weeks the launch of the Sky HD Channels, Along with FIVE HD, HALLMARK HD & a few more HD that are unconfirmed at the moment. There will be more SD channels aswell mainly +1 (Five, Fiver, Five USA, ect)

There is not expected to be a increase in pricing. The reason Sky have increased the Sports is because they are dropping the £10 for HD, therefore need to make the money back (via Sports subscriptions)
