Always on the cards denphone the news of the world sting recording the exact moments on film they were told the no balls would be bowled, and lo and behold they were bowled when they were told they would be,very compelling evidence indeed.

I feel very sorry for Mohammad Amir who was just starting a very promising fast bowling career and was probably very knieve,Butt and Asif have been around a long time, butt being an ex-captain both of those knew exactly what they were doing.

The authorities need more resources to cach them, now the news of the world is no longer around to do the job for them.:erm::erm::)

The claims were made at the Southwark Crown Court sentencing of Butt and Mohammad Asif, who have been convicted of deliberately bowling no-balls.

Sir Ian Botham says the International Cricket Council (ICC) needs to take action to tackle match-fixing in cricket, starting in Pakistan.

Former England captain Botham said: "I think the ICC have just sat on their hands and pretended it's not there. Well now they have got to act.

The Pakistan team have issued a statement expressing their shock at the involvement of three Pakistani players in match fixing and promised to clean up their act before the 2-1 series defeat to the West Indies next year. :D

Re: Cricket

l am not sure they will clear up their act as from what l see and read l believe corruption to be endemic in Pakistani cricket.

Re: Cricket

Radio five live had an interview with Lord McLauren this morning former chief of cricket in England,he set up the first anti corruption unit he was going on about there only being a few rotten eggs and the anti courruption unit he set up worked quite well.

Until the interviewer pointed it out, it was the news of the world ,and not the cricket anti corruption unit that caught the pakistanis! DOH !

She then went to point out that there are rumours of others being involved,he really did not have an answer If so my fear would be the anti corruption unit is just not ft to do the job they are tasked with, and now the NOTW is gone who now will investigate the rotten apples in cricket.:(

Not tough enough in my view to put others off and i notice all will only do half their sentance.:(

I notice in another article the ICC said the veridct was consistant with their investigation. ha ha.

It was only because of the NOTW it ever got off the ground, not because of anything the ICC did how ironic perhaps now the ICC may get off its backside as regards corruption, and not leave it to newspapers some hope.

Yes when you consider that they will only serve half their sentence l believe the sentences given to them are quite weak and they are going to appeal their sentences l have just heard as well they might only end up serving a few months.
