Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window
Which would you prefer, FA Cup win, or qualifying for champion's league.
For me, qualifying for champion's league. Only as i recognise not doing so, means you fall further behind (and I like to watch champion's league) |
Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window
Well its would be very nice if my beloved qualified for the CL as l love watching those wonderful nights at Anfield.

Kompany played Messi onside. |

Yup tough ask for City now but stranger things have happened. They would need to stop Barcelona scoring though.
I am off to Arsenal tomorrow. Quite a nice prospect really, massive game, will have a good atmosphere, and if we lose then no one would be too disappointed as 1) it's Munich 2) we have a better chance in the League and FA Cup. |
Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window
Its going to be some atmosphere tomorrow :D someones seen sense to do something special at the start of the game so get in there early to hold up your little piece of beautiful ;)

With just a tiny bit more luck City would have scored, they did create several chances. Getting Aguero back will help but having to go for it from the off at Camp Nou will leave them vulnerable at the back.

"So Webb is a lot less likely to give a penalty in the last 15 minutes than the average Premier League referee." The stats do not show that. They actually show when Webb gives a penalty, not if he could, or couldn't have that choice. Pathetic article, making up things does not make it true. |

Well lets hope Arsenal do well tonight as they need to be brave as there is nothing to fear about Bayern.

Question for Arsenal fans: If Arsenal crash and burn now, and barely scrape a fourth place finish; will this be the Summer when Arsenal fans finally lose patience with Wenger, or will he still have the backing of the fans?
Genuinely interested to know at what point fans will stop blaming the board and blame the manager for their lack of silverware. |

It could also be argued that a blatant foul that prevents a clear goal scoring opportunity spoils the game as a spectacle as well. And some of the most exciting games I have seen have been watching 10 v 11. It doesn't always follow that a sending off ruins the game.

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window

He was right to send him off but that rule is one of the worst in football in my opinion. A player is brought down denying a goal scoring opportunity, but a penalty is given which is a goal scoring opportunity, so the goal scoring opportunity isn't denied. Why should they be given a red card as well and punished twice? Anywhere else on the pitch where its not a goal scoring opportunity its a yellow card or just a foul, i don't know why that should change. |
Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window

Many players have had a red card as the last man and not been in the box so no penalty given in those cases.;) |
Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window
It was a penalty and so it then had to be a red card. However the rule is harsh. Both players went for the ball, there was no intent to foul, and the keeper tried to pull out of the challenge when the ball went out of reach. It is harsh to reduce a team to 10 men for that. It's not even as if the chance was that clear. I was behind the goal and thought Robben had already taken a shot.

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window
Oh well. It is Munich. Might be worth resting some players for the away leg as we have Spurs the weekend after! Concentrate on the league and FA Cup.
The card display was cool. So glad it worked. Hope there are more stunts like that. |

He didn't try to knock it out of the way , he succeeded in clipping it over the keepers leg but was then caught by the keeper as he followed through, nothing malicious but he did take him out and personally I think Robben would have got to the ball, there wasn't a lot of pace on it.
As with City last night, that second goal was a real blow.:( |

Yes, then it should be a red card because there is no longer a clear goal scoring opportunity. Like I said, the ref made the right decision last night and in the city game, but in my opinion that rule is unfair and in both instances a yellow card and a penalty is a fair punishment. |

I didn't want to get there that early! Still be great to see the man at half time.
Rumours Ozil will be rested today. He does seem tired but I wanted him to play again and pull himself up from Wednesday, the fans need to get behind him too. No booing, groaning or anything like that. Just sing him songs and cheer his name. |

There is no bouncing back from the pathetic peno midweek. He needs to re-charge and bounce back in a couple of weeks when the team will need him.
