Virgin Media have said they are working as hard as they can to get these great services out ASAP.

That has been the statement for months (well not Spotify), they are not going to say we hope to get the updates out as soon as we can be bothered are they.

Hi,

I may have jumped the gun on an announcement. Our operations team hasn't been able to brief all of our staff on the update just yet, so it would be unfair for me to announce dates when they aren't prepared to receive your calls.

We will be rolling out the software over the period of a week to all of our customers, and you will receive some sort of communication (e-mail, letter) to let you know when to expect your specific update and what to do once you've got it.

Will let you know more as soon as I can share it.

Thanks, and sorry to somewhat disappoint!

Nick

I've only seen Cable as Analogue and briefly as Telewest (prior to TV Drive) before moving over to Virgin a few years ago where the software pretty much looks the same in terms of colours.

I got a free 2nd TiVo box today! Had the installation booked in a few weeks back to replace my current V+HD box. They didn't book in a time for installation that was suitable so I gave them a call to change it. After rearranging the appointment the lady said we can relocate your existing box for free so I said yes.

Today the enginneer came round with two TiVo boxes as that what was on his work order. I got the paperwork from Virgin out and showed him that the paperwork that I got sent through the post, detailing the same as what I ordered. He phoned up customer services and they said I could keep the TiVo box for free and as I ordered before the price change to £3 a box so my monthly costs hasn't gone up either.

I had dodgy Freeview reception for the last few years (often unwatchable) in the bedroom so I'm well chuffed.

THE BATTLE IS JOINED!

5 year old, trusty TV Drive swapped out for a 500Gb TiVo this morning, joining its 1TB 'big brother' TiVo in HDFootyMan HQ.

Along with an existing trio of 200Mb Homeplugs, the TiVos are now waiting for some streaming fun.....whenever you're ready, Virgin. ;)

I think Live TV will be the next step after this.

Quote:

Yes i have seen it and It looks very good. Nick will we ever be able to watch live tv on the iOS TiVo Buddy app in the future and going by the pictures that must be a yes.
Quote:

It's technically possible, and we're really excited by that potential. We want to make sure that it's a consistent service with your TV subscription and until the commercials play out, I've got nothing to confirm or deny on this subject. Our Virgin Media Player service is getting better and better (just added Sky Anytime) and we're putting a lot of work into bringing it forward and interacting with the TiVo world, so it's certainly a developing picture.

Live TV is a tough one, the content owns will put a dampener on that.

My guess would be there talking about a Virgin Media Player TiVo app, that's a guess though.

YES

Strong growth in sales of TiVo digital television recorders also helped boost the company’s revenue. The company added 127,000 subscribers to the product in the quarter and said it currently has 222,000 customers. To illustrate the speed of take-up, the company said it had installed a TiVo box into a customers’ home every minute of the day for July, August and September of this year.
Virgin Media had 35,000 at the end of Q2 then add 127,000 comes to 162,000. Virgin Media added another 60,000 between 1st october and 26th october.

The best way to watch TV
In the quarter we started to market and sell our new TiVo service to new customers and since July have
been running our first TiVo TV advertising campaign. The strong early demand for this service has
exceeded our high expectations and by the end of the quarter we had 162,900 TiVo customers, more than
four times the number of customers with which we entered the quarter. We are seeing this demand for TiVo
from both new and existing customers, with around one third of all TiVo subscribers being new to Virgin
Media. Growth has continued strongly in October, and we had 222,000 TiVo customers as of 26th October.

The iOS app might not, depends if it passes Apple's checks and how long that takes. As the VM one will be a separate listing in the App Store from the US one it will have to be validated as a whole new App.

Between october 1st and october 25th they added 60,000 tivo customers.

i work out
roughly 2.35 per tivo's installed per minute x 60 = 141 x by virgin media opening hours which i think is 17 hours x by 25 days = 59,995 tivo installs roughly

If the previously quoted figure of 3.7 million customers is correct then 222,000 is approaching just 6% of the customer base.

I meant 67% customers that are upgrading tivo are existing customers. The other 33% are new customers. They are 222,000 tivo users. Go and read the press release.

Not currently, but a full red button/interactive service will be available by end of Q1 next year.

Weather and entertainment apps are available though.

"When say a full red button/interactive service by the end of Q1 2012". Could BBC and Sky Sports come this year and the rest will come Q1 next year ?

It says red button services before the end of this year which most likely would be BBC and Sky Sports.
A full range would include QVC , Challenge , Cartoon Network etc.

but if you ordered Tivo you could move your v+ into another room for no extra monthly charge. You would only £3 per month. I personally think the free multiroom offer will end when tivo has full red button services.

I notice on the Netflix site their now officially mentioning the UK with an option to register your email for updates on when the service becomes available.
https://signup.netflix.com/global

You would imagine this service would end up on many connected devices.

If you ordered Tivo you best to order it ASAP because they are selling like hot cakes. and you still might not get a install date before christmas.

I've no idea what the average wait time is (that's for VM to know I guess), but I waited just under 3 weeks for mine.

The lead times vary hugely between the regions, so knowing the national average won't really help you. All you can do is ring up and see what date they quote.

Went for a TiVo box swap online and was given a date of Saturday 10th December for the install. Quick question this box swap from V+ will not effect any retention deal that I have will it?

I think a Virgin Media player Tivo App is in development. Which i think would not require a tuner ? This would be good news.

Our Virgin Media Player service is getting better and better (just added Sky Anytime) and we're putting a lot of work into bringing it forward and interacting with the TiVo world, so it's certainly a developing picture.

Why would they do that, Virgin Media Player is a way to access on demand on devices that aren't your TV.

Using some features of TiVo with the app, maybe viewing recordings on your box from it or set recordings without having to go to the guide page/app. Or more likely branding recommendations after you've watched something 'TiVo Suggests' on the app.

All it states is that they are hoping to involve the player in the world of TiVo it makes no claims at all about what form that interaction will take. You as usual find a quote and add 2+2 and get 6,543.

It will probably be something like you start watching on your Tivo and it will automatically pick up where you left off if you switch to a mobile device. They have said this is what they want to achieve eventually when they first launched Virgin Media Player.

It will probably be quite a way off though, so don't read too much into it HD Boy.
