Sorry to hear this. But at least you now have a diagnosis so they can hopefully find the right treatment for you. It didn't surprise me it took this long either unfortunately to get to this point.

If you have any questions, need any kind of advice or if there's anything on your mind etc. Please feel free to ask away.

This time tomorrow night, I will know the outcome of my disciplinary hearing. I am fully expecting the worst case scenario, that is being sacked, but people seem to think that I might be given a stern talking to. I don't know what to think. But fully expecting to be getting drunk tomorrow night to drown my sorrows.

A friend of mine who actually owns that [Mod Edit - Link removed] Car Clean something - he got it. And we spend lots and lots of time together. Firstly there is going to be some steroid involved with weight fluctuations happening...

Then by chance he got told about this Chinese doctor called Doctor Ming. She's based somewhere near north London - I can get the info if you'd like.

Anyway, she started putting him on a course of Chinese medicines to help with his stomach and digestion issues.

I'm not even exaggerating - he's doing so so much better......Chinese medicine may not be your thing and even if that's not the case - I've got to still admit that things like steroids don't always have the best side effects.

Happy to send Dr Ming details through if you think it's gonna help??

Sent you a PM, Mark :hugs:

I have not been well at all lately so after repeated blood tests it has now been confirmed that my thyroid needs testing again in two months as it is looking like I could have an underactive thyroid that could be causing the weight gain, then if that was not enough I'm now going through the menopause and HRT is not an option :( this may also be causing the weight gain then if this is not enough my Crohns is being badly affected by the changes my body is going through.

After being called into the practice to see the nurse on Tuesday in where I was given a prescription for Kliofem (HRT) by the nurse at my GP Practice and just when I thought things would get better I got a call from the receptionist the very next day to ask me if I had started this treatment and when I said yes I started HRT yesterday and I have taken two she then said that I need to stop HRT immediately and could not say why but that I needed to come and see the doctor as an emergency appointment in where I was informed HRT was not an option giving my medical background blah blah blah

I'm just so fed up gained a lot of weight, not sleeping to good, still being sick most day's and don't get me started on the hot flushes  so there you have it I feel and look like total crap tbh

My new RT-AC88U is a pile of poo ATM.

Its not playing ball and I get no 2.4GHz wifi downstairs.

Yet my old RT-N66U gave a strong signal.

Yesterday my Niece and a friend went to the Hammersith Apollo to see Halsey, but because of her anorexia she wanted to be nearby and she wnet with her.

I wnet along with my sister to keep her company, and even saw the film "King of Thieves".

I had to go to the Rik Mayall bench.

Anyway after the concert they met up with us outside at about 11:10pm, Hammersmith tube was heaving so we walked to anoth tube and got on it.

We got to Mile End then went across to the central line to get a tube to Epping were my car was.

Over the tannoy came that there were no more tubes running east, BUGGER.

So we had to try and work out what the hell to do, we got a night bus to Stratford and got the at 1:05am.

We had to pay a black cab £50 (it was more but he kept it at £50), and after dropping my sister and co off I climbed into my welcoming bed at 1:45am.

The at 6:30am my alarm wnet of for work, it didn't help that I couldn't sleep as I think I was over tied and couldn't turn off.

But I booked the afternoon off and had a kip.

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

I hate the Apollo for the same reason as I need to get to the East End of the central line as well and it takes ages, you essentially have to cross the entire city at a time when you really can't be bothered.

There aren't that many medium venues in London and hardly any in East London. You have the O2 but that's too big for a lot of acts.

I am guessing you went too late to be able to get the overground from Liverpool Street to Chingford?

Small chest freezer is dying. It was struggling over the summer and now cannot hold the temperature down. It's running but not properly freezing. 35+ years of faithful service.

I'm transferring the stuff to an upright unit that I have as a backup. Not sure I can get all the stuff in. :erm:

There's a lot of ice in it so maybe it just needs defrosting. Fingers crossed.

heero_yuy 01-10-2018 08:59

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

Even after de-frosting the freezer cannot hold down the temperature and it was only down to -2C inside this morning even though the compressor is running all the time so something has failed in the refrigeration circuit, probably one of the reed valves in the compressor.

Time for a new one. Just not worth getting somebody to look at it.

Still I've had my money's worth out of it.

Thanks for the link den. They've got a nice little chest freezer about the same size as my one for £140 and they can take the old one away.

I'll have a quick look at a couple of other sites just in case.

I've plumped for a slightly more expensive one with a LED display of temperature and from a well known brand (LEC) @ £169 plus £20 to take the old one away and recycle

Gone for free delivery as there's no rush as I have the backup freezer.

We bought a nice one from them which fits into our smallish galley kitchen perfectly as it gives us that extra freezer space we badly needed.

Absolutely as it has been running smoothly for a fair while now and rest assured there will be problems galore with the new system if previous experiences are a guide.

Anyone else having to use subtitles to follow a TV program?
Being tone deaf I find it annoying that on some programs that the dialogue does not go with actual program.
Watch any program from channels 1 - 5 and it can be a laugh, take weather for example!
Rant over.

I am guessing a live broadcast like Weather the subtitles are being created the moment the presenter speaks either via computer or someone manually typing so that maybe the reason?

I use subtitles as my partner has superpowered hearing and likes the volume really low and my hearing isn't perfect so she doesn't like it when i have it louder.

I really need to take the step and look into getting a hearing aid but i am nervous.

I wear hearing aids in both ears. I find when I do go out I only wear the one for the same reason as you say. At least with one I can just about make out the distance and separate the sounds.

I just bought the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 and the Keyboard case for it.

I opened up word on the tablet to test and the thieving M$ buggers want £5.99 a month to be able to save documents by taking out a Office 365 bundle.

I have office on my PC and NOT forking out a monthly fee.

So I uninstalled as much as the preinstall would allow and disabled all the office stuff I have.

I then downloaded Google Docs.

Being told no to getting a rescued Greyhound apparently my youngest thinks they are ugly and hubby just said NO with no reason behind the no at all, whereas my eldest has just said just get one Mum.

I really want a rescued greyhound as I feel my day's of being a dog owner are not over yet but I do know I don't want a puppy, I want to give a older rescued dog a forever home and I had my heart set on a Greyhound.

Interviewee's, mainly young women, who constantly put an upward internation at the end of almost every sentence turning it from a statement into a question. Really irritating and devalues anything they have to say.

And if they begin every sentence with 'So' as well, they've got the job? ;).

Getting a pet has to be a family decision, some people want a pet but others would rather have a different pet, try and brainwash the family with a cute pet, but then again everyone has their different ideas of what a cute pet is.

I would love a pet (Dog/Cat).

But couldn't clean up after them.

Plus the fact is when it comes to the goodbye, did it once as a kid, never again.

We had a lovely orange cat for 15 years but her box was out on the verandah which was. fine, but we caught her walking along the railing and we were 15 floors up. But she learned not to do it again, She was a beautiful cat but losing her was a heartbreak, We never got another one.

Not good den :(

My youngest got into a bit of a argument last night at work which did surprise me as he is usually very laid back and quiet anyway long story short two people at his work seem to have a problem with him as one man in his 50's keeps muttering Oh Tesco are employing children now when he walks by him and the other one who is a woman in her 40's keeps talking down to him at every opportunity it seems.

Well last night he answered back telling this man that Tesco does not age discriminate and if he has a problem then speak to the manager only for this woman to butt in and say that is no way to talk to his elders in which he replied in a raised voice Oh do you think it is ok for two adults to speak to children like that as that is what you obliviously think I am as you make enough sly comments on the fact I'm only 16 and a child, blah blah blah.

Anyway other staff overheard this and obviously informed the management and he got called into the managers office where he was told that he was not in any trouble but he was asked if he wants to make a complaint against these two employees and he said no he just had enough of their snide comments and explained that he comes into work, gets on with it and does not interfere at all with other departments yet these two think that it ok to come to his department which has nothing to with them and they are the same level as him not even supervisors and he really does not understand what the problem is with him and this manager informed my son that she knows what their problem is and will be speaking to them and telling them that on this occasion she will be respecting my son's wishes and not taking this matter further on this occasion.

Why do some people think it is ok to speak or bring down someone like this no matter what age someone is IMO this is wrong.

The way hubby and I are feeling atm is on Thursday just before we pick our youngest up from work, his Dad and I might just to go into to the store for some milk or whatever, just to get a feel of how he is coping at his work in the hope that our youngest does not catch us, but maybe I will change my mind by Thursday.

This is why I wanted him in the Sainsbury's that both I and his brother worked in or even the local Home Bargains where I know most of the staff.

I'm not expecting my son to be mothered or mollycoddled at his work but at the same time nor do I expect a lady in her 40's or man in his 50's to make him the object of their own insecurities.

When I worked we looked after the young ones at our store :)

I just wish he had told us what he was experiencing with these two then we could have advised him to speak to his supervisor what they were doing rather than him getting into an argument with them.

I hate that too. God awful. Even worse are the ones that WRITE that way too, and stick a question mark on the end of everything, just to let you know that that's the way they're speaking.....

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

Well today is the first day that my youngest will have went back to work since it all kicked off Sunday and he has asked me not to go in which I won't. I'm dreading dropping him off at 5pm and I just know that I will be on tender hooks until 9pm when I pick him up, hopefully they will say nothing more on what happened on Sunday but if they do his big brother has gave him some words of wisdom on how to handle things if they do.

His big brother has advised him that if these two so called adults confront him in anyway about this matter then he needs to go to his supervisor and say he came into his work today under the impression that a line had been drawn under what happened at the start of the week and he would appreciate it if they have anything further to say or they feel the matter was not dealt with appropriately then they need to speak to the relevant person example their supervisor.

I have no worries really with my youngest as he is very calm, totally laid back and a well mannered boy.

Like any parent I just do not like the thought of two adults more than twice his age ganging up on him but I suppose he is in the working world now and as he has said Mum I don't need you to hold my hand so please let me handle this (true but ouch)

Yes, they could run to-and-from the local fast food outlet which offers better value than school meals. Or run to school because they can't afford a bus pass for the schools which are getting further and further from peoples' homes. Ban sugar and computer games, make them all vegetarian and make them walk to school, preferably bare footed ! ;) Sorted.

Not really. A Big Mac apparently has enough calories that you would need to run for 140 minutes.. https://www.kidspot.com.au/health/we...4a3116f513a755

And actually on a serious note, I think that computer games are part of the problem, as is Sugar, but another thing that is part of the problem is there doesn't seem to be much opportunity (or encouragement) for kids to play outside these days. Parents seem to assume that there is a Paedophile around every corner, or their child is going to get dragged away by a gang.. OK, both *are* distinct possibilities, but don't apply everywhere.

Also, my niece and nephew go to a school that has a catchment area with a radius of under 1 mile. Every morning and afternoon, the roads around the school are blocked with cars that vanish when the parents have dropped off or picked up their kids. I'd wager that most of the parents could walk their child to and from school. Something which would be better (and cheaper) for them, and better for their children and the Environment (especially as some of them have quite large cars). And yes, they walk to and from school.

The trackers won't work. They'll either end up not being charged or the kids will find ways of tricking them.

As for the fast food restaurants, I think education is key. We need to educate people that going down the kebab shop, or Maccy D's should be a treat, not a daily occurrence. I think schools also need to re-introduce Home Economics, as someone needs to teach the kids to cook with fresh food, and I don't think a lot of parents bother.

Sadly, Politicians rarely take responsibility for the consequences of their actions, unless it's to fall on their sword publicly hoping to move blame from the rest of the party. Even when they do, they seem to be rewarded. Look at Boris. He nearly got someone killed as Foreign Secretary and missed various important votes, but still some in the Tory party are talking him up as being a future Prime Minister. He has never taken responsibility for anything he has done, as Mayor of London or Foreign Secretary. Even the rest of the Tory party, and the Labour party seem to be setting us up to take the blame if Brexit fails (sorry to introduce that), with all the crys of "The Will Of The People". I truly believe IF it fails, the Tory and Labour party will put responsibility on the Voters.

Still, back to the playing fields. Local councils have, with a lot of encouragement from Central Government, spent the last 30 years or so selling off school playing fields to make up funding shortfalls, but they really haven't thought things through. We are facing a generation of kids who are increasingly obese. This will put extra strain on the NHS, and will ultimately cost us ALL more.

Yes l agree with you that there are several factors involved in children not getting enough outside play compared to 30 years ago as first of all sugar has far more of a impact factor in ones ongoing health then fat has as one of the big problems we have is food manufacturers are very powerful and clever in the way they advertise to the general public as not only do the advertise their branded products pretty relentlessly but they then plug a more health conscious version which they then say is then much better for you but when one looks into it its not as healthy as they say it is.

When we were younger we walked the mile and a half to school and done the same to get home later in the day but sadly many parents as you say don't do that nowadays and its going to need a big culture for that to change IMO.

Yes l quite agree that Home Economics should be introduced again as to me cooking is a life skill that never leaves you once you learn it as to put it bluntly its pretty depressing that a considerable amount in this country don't even know how to cook the basics.

Short termism which ends up costing the state and the NHS a lot more sadly as there was a National Audit Office report released this morning and one of the watch words they mentioned was government short termism and the need to end it.

Known as dirty old men when we were children as Paedophiles are nothing new as l think one of the big problems is parents read the media and then form the perception that there is a Paedophile around every corner which quite clearly there is not as the chances of a child being abducted according to the police figures is very low.

24*7 news is a big problem in this regard, as well the competition between the papers.
Reporting the news is no longer enough, it's about having headlines that make people buy the paper.
"Limited chance of your child meeting a paedophile" won't sell as many papers as "3,000,000 paedophiles are waiting around the corner to grab your child!"
