Piques reaction after giving the penalty away is classic. Its as if some players don't realise there are cameras recording the match sometimes. Stonewall penalty and he still protests his innocence...

Barcelona are simply not playing as well at the moment.

Yes, a combination of some good defensive pressing and Barca not playing 100%.

What the chuffing hell did he expect? He slagged them off in the press, he worked for one of Chelsea's biggest rivals and apponted interim manager days after quite possibly the most popular manager they had ever had under Roman was sacked and the fat Spainish waiter expects them to be happy? I'm an ardent anti Chelsea person, but even I was disgusted when he was appointed manager. Roman paid the price when he couldn't work with Mourinho and sacked him. Chelsea could have been strangling the English Premier League over the last few seaons like United did during the 90's.

Not rant, as much as saying what it is. All he said was factual..re having "interim" manager as title was stupid..and some Chelsea fans dogma was hurting the club.

If you don't think rafa was a good choice, it is the owner you should complain about. But fans are quiet about the owner, probably scared he will take his money and leave. So you attack easier targets.

He probably had a right to expect the Chelsea fans to get behind the team whilst he is there. The level of vitriol directed at him is out of line. Then against BenÃ*tez has always attracted a special kind of hatred from some corners of England for quite benign reasons.

It's not his fault the previous manager was sacked. They're directing anger that should be for Abramovich at BenÃ*tez because they dare not provoke him. Also BenÃ*tez didn't slag them off that much, he made a little jibe, and so what if he worked for Liverpool. The rate at which Chelsea are going though managers means they probably should get used to it.

He's done really well with us of course but I can't imagine Eric Cantona, 2 years in to his first and only management job winning the League Cup with (say) Sheffield United being tipped to take over from SAF.

But he knew when he was given the job he was interim manager, what was he expecting to happen? If he didn't, he should have read the contract he was given a little better. The abuse he has been given by fans is over the top, but if he was expecting to be greeted with open arms hes a little naive. He was manager of one their bigger rivals and quite regularly slagged off Chelsea in the media during that time, something fans tend not to forget.

Imagine if the fans from one of the biggest teams in the world wanted a popular former player (I could have chosen any but I used Cantona as he's my own all-time favourite) to take over from arguably the biggest football management job in the world when he'd only had limited success with a comparatively small side.

Yeah you do because he had success as a manager before turning up in Wales including in the country of the club that supposedly wants him, no amount of ludicrous hypothesises can change that.

Did you watch the game? Norwich were awful, didn't even have a shot on goal let alone on target....they got what they deserved for playing 11 behind the ball...

i saw a tweet the other week from a scouser hopeful that the 20mil fee will be justified. tbh im more interested in Coutinho. was kind of surprised Inter let him go. looks nimble i see why you said he needs to bulk. that said if hes able to see space then he wont need to. having a 'weavy' player in midfield is something you need.

they didnt get a shot away on target. they did however early first half have a chance to score, header wide i think or missed cant really remember. i do remember seeong Utd having trouble in the final third though. thats when opponents pounce but Norwich failed.

Felt a bit sorry for my mate today. Went in with the home fans on his "spare" season ticket (after all they're only about 50p a year). I think he wanted to leave at half time, worst I've ever seen Wigan play under Martinez.

Nope. I don't trust these 'group' either, everything makes it sound a bit too good to be true and saying all the things the fans want to here. Massive transfer funds, cheaper tickets, major force in European football and everything else. You're also rolling the dice on these kinds of things. For every Manchester City there is a Portsmouth. :erm:

I also really dislike the idea of the club being dependent on outside money. I would love them to come in and give loads of transfer money and cut ticket prices but I don't want the prospect of the wage bill and transfer fees depending on the whims of another group. I want the club to be able to support itself.

Not sure what Tim Paytons up to but hes out in Dubai. i remember him posting he was out there a month or so ago too. may be just a holiday or other business I don't know.

anyway i think ive made my feelings clear on this matter. the current board have no vision, with all due respect to those peoples education they have no brains. how the feck can Utd compete on a wage bill not much bigger than ours? its not all about throwing money. its about having people who KNOW! I want Dein back.

the telegraph have incorrectly worked out figures, the piece say its around 20k a share. i think they need to be a little more accurate with this sort of thing seeing as its a report of a buyout of shares!! it works out around 24k a share = 995,073,811 for Stans shares.

highest trade of a share todate was 16,500 i think. this was last year around this time of the year.

ive become scared of the likes of these 'consortiums'. we've seen a fair few cock ups recently linked to 'consortiums' in footy. id want proof of money in the potential new owners banks not in assets or anything else. hard cash or sod off. The Identity of these people will be interesting...

I would not want Usmanov to become sole owner of Arsenal. Do the fans REALLY want a man who has made his money through drugs and money laundering to own the club? I would have to seriously consider stopping supporting them if they allow Usmanov to become sole owner.

Dein had the capability to attract world class players which sadly Arsenal are finding increasingly hard to do now.

Would prefer the middle-eastern group than Usmanov, the way Usmanov has behaved has been disgraceful IMO.

---------- Post added at 08:44 ---------- Previous post was at 08:34 ----------

Actually I wonder if Usmanov is behind this? Spreading fake rumours to destabilise the club further? Sounds rather too good to be true thus far, massive transfer cash, cheap tickets, 'recreate the atmosphere of the North Bank' and so on.

Not questioning Arsenal takeover story but Kroenke has absolutely no intention to sell, is adamant he's here for long-term.

Serious Middle East interest never advertise plans. Qatar/UAE buying together v.unlikely. Long-winded anonymous source out of character.

Takeover experts spoken to all say valuation of £1.5bn is way over the top for Arsenal, especially if no Champions League.

Not saying there isn't interest or bid won't arrive (always possible) but would be rejected. Parts of story unusual & timing suspicious.

Re: Football Season 2012/2013

Well I have been listening to some of the build up for today's game and I think it's best if we just concede before kick-off. Apprantly none, or just Wilshere, would get into a North London XI and Spurs are miles ahead of Arsenal. Bale is, let's admit it, the best footballer these islands have ever produced and, as correctly pointed out, Walcott is nothing but a joke. The defence? Well the fact Spurs have conceded only 32 goals whilst Arsenal have capitulated a shockingly poor 30 goals this season means that they're all right in that none of the Arsenal defence would get anywhere near this Spurs team.

Spurs are better in every position. I am just ashamed that we have to trouble them with our pathetic presence. I can only say sorry in advance.

Come back in 10 years and if he is still performing as well then he may deserve that accolade, as yet he has had a couple of good seasons that's all, the list of players from 'these islands' who are or have been as good as or better than Bale over a sustained period is quite a long one.

I will give you Ryan's Giggs, George Best, Bobby Charlton and Denis Law from United alone that are or have been better than Bale over the long term. The last three of those also played in an era when defenders were allowed to tackle properly as well. Every top club in the country would be able to name more than one past British/Irish player every bit as good as Bale. He has to maintain his performances over several years before he could ever be considered 'the best' .IMHO of course.;)

In fact he's not even the best player to come from Wales (yet) THIS bloke is.

Arsenal always play pretty football, but the defense was poor. I might forgive the 1st goal..but the 2nd was a shocker...no communication..and it was as if they were surprised someone might pass a ball through them.
