I can't help but laugh at Robbie Savage, He's become a pundit and pardon my next bit.. He talk's some *****, Come back to earth mate :p: You are the dirtiest player to ever grace the Premier League and I cant actually remember him being that good... BBC must be desperate. Congrats to City, But I'm not a fan of winning the league on goal difference, Heartbreaking for the United boys. As for us, we didn't really throw anything away as Spurs and Arsenal confirmed themselves to 3rd and 4th but still a heartless performance considering our season. Roll on Munich now I know who I can support! |

If I had my way footballer's should be banned for comments made on twitter.
It's disgraceful that someone representing the best league in the world is talking so much crap via social networking. Hurling abuse at probably the best striker to play in the Premier League is just silly. Alan told it how it is and he's not the first person to receive abuse from the clown. All the talk early season about him being a new person was just a load of crap too. Same idiot that went to prison. He can make the Keano jibes all he wants though, we all know if Keane had been managing QPR it's a common fact Barton wouldn't have left that dressing room in one piece. Better than Lampard and Gerrard.. ha, I'd rather have Heskey than you. |

The fans may have never wanted him in the first place, but I think that was less to do with the fact that he came from the other side of the city (which was a bad decision by the board anyway), and more to do with the fact that he'd just been relegated. Couple that with the astonishingly terrible football that he's had us playing all season, and it's a miracle that a) we stayed up, and b) he's kept his job this long. Frankly, any combination of 3 from Wolves, Blackburn, Bolton or QPR deserved to go down purely because they were worse than us! ---------- Post added at 13:57 ---------- Previous post was at 13:56 ---------- Quote:

well done to City overall they were the better side.
I know this is something we have profited from in the past but did anyone watch the City game and were there really 5 mins of extra time ? We got 3 against Sunderland and I didn't even think there was 3 mins there either. Not sure why the FA \ UEFA \ FIFA feel the need to drag the game out by a few more minutes all the time |

Re: Football Season 2011/12
there's never any consistency in it, it's as if now they have board they feel they have to use it all the time.
There were 4 substitutions in the second half at 30 seconds each that is 2 minutes time they should add on. There was one goal during normal time and according to the rules they have to add on one minute so we are already up to 3 minutes and it took about 2 mins and maybe longer to send Barton off. That means the ref is saying if there were no subs and no sending off etc the game would have ended at 90 mins  We all know we still would see the standard 3 mins they always put up. A lot of the time when goals are scored during injury time they don't add on the extra one minute that is in the rules although this time I think they did. |
Re: Football Season 2011/12
Firstly they are Laws not rules ;)
Secondly, there is no mention of how much time is required to be added on for subs. Thirdly, Law 7 does not specifically say time should be added for goals. Quote:

They already have 4 expensive strikers but they want more! It really is a case of not being happy with what they have if they can deprive their rivals, if Arsenal could even be called that anymore, good players. Same with Hazard, whilst he is a great player they spent £25 million on Nasri last year and they have David Silva so why Hazard? To stop United getting him. They are buying up all the talent they can with a limitless supply of cash to remove any chance of competition to them. I would rather RVP goes to United than City then at least someone could, maybe, compete with them. |

Really we need all four in the Champions League proper and preferably beyond the group stages to keep the England UEFA coefficient up. If we start routinely failing to provide teams into the knockout stages of the competition and, worse, even all four into the group stages then we will lose that 4th spot.

---------- Post added at 15:53 ---------- Previous post was at 15:52 ---------- Premier League: 20 year awards breakdown By Mark Bollons May 15, 2012 http://www.givemefootball.com/premier-league/premier-league-20-year-awards-breakdown Best Goal – Wayne Rooney (Manchester United 2-1 Manchester City) A quite stunning moment of brilliance from Rooney in February 2011, as the England international helped push the Red Devils towards the title and City further out of the race for the trophy. Chosen by the fans, the result was always going to be controversial, with so many great moments to consider over the past two decades. Di Canio’s volley, Beckham’s chip, Yeboah’s wonder-strike, Le Tissier’s chip-and-shot and Bergkamp’s magic were all worthy contenders, but it was Rooney who won the day. Best Celebration – Eric Cantona (Manchester United 5-0 Sunderland) A controversial choice from the people, given that Cantona did little but raise his arms in the air and move round in a circle. Like a king surveying the scene, Cantona’s chip was quite brilliant in a comfortable win, although Lomana Trezor Lua Lua and Jimmy Bullard can feel aggrieved to finish behind the French legend. Best Match – Manchester United v Manchester City (Manchester United 4-3 Manchester City) Another highly controversial choice from the public, as Manchester United’s fans got behind their side and voted the derby win in September 2009. Michael Owen’s late winner in injury-time did add drama to an enthralling match that included great goals and furious managers, with ‘Fergie Time’ once coming to the rescue of the Red Devils. Liverpool’s 4-3 win over Newcastle from the 1995-96 season was a controversial second, whilst the 4-4 draw between Liverpool and Arsenal in ’09 came third. Arsenal’s 4-4 draw against Spurs could also have been a contender. Best Save – Craig Gordon (Sunderland 1-0 Bolton Wanderers) The Scot was definitely not the biggest name on the list, but was rightly recognised for a quite wonderful save to deny Zat Knight at the Stadium of Light. The defender appeared to poke home from close range after a Trotters corner, but Gordon showed great reflexes to get a hand to the shot, and better still tip the ball over the crossbar. Peter Schmeichel came second for his save against Newcastle in ’97, with Jussi Jaaskelainen third for a double stop against Manchester United in 2001. Best Player – Ryan Giggs (Manchester United) Was it ever in doubt? A panel of experts voted Welsh wing wizard Ryan Giggs the winner in what is likely to have been one of the more one-sided debates at the table. Giggs has played – and scored – in every single Premier League season over the past two decades, a feat unmatched by any other player. He’s also won the division 12 times at Old Trafford. Other contenders included Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Paul Scholes, but Giggs was always going to win this one. Best Manager – Sir Alex Ferguson (Manchester United) Much like the above, it would have been impossible to give the award to anyone else after winning the league 12 times out of a possible 20. Ferguson has grown several great teams, most notably the treble winning side of ’98-’99, and constantly proved the critics wrong when bouncing-back from defeat to Blackburn, Arsenal and Chelsea. His only competition in this category was Arsene Wenger, and whilst the French professor has revolutionised Arsenal, he hasn’t won enough trophies to compare. Best Team – Arsenal 2003-04 Will their achievement ever be matched in a single season again? Arsenal’s ‘invincibles’ went undefeated over a 38 game season, winning 26 matches to claim the league title by 11 points. Lehmann in goal; Campbell, Cole and Toure in defence; Vieira, Ljungberg and Pires in midfielder; Bergkamp and Henry up-front. It just doesn’t get much better than that. Manchester United’s ’98-’99 treble winners would have been in contention, as would Chelsea’s first title winning side under Jose Mourinho in 2004-05. Best Season – 2011/12 Given the quite incredible finish to the season, it should come as no surprise to learn that the 2011/12 campaign was judged to be the best campaign ever. With regular goal-fests between the top teams in the division, as well as upsets aplenty during the nine months of action, the final day of the season truly cemented this season’s place as the best over the past two decades. The 1995-96 campaign would have been considered, given the rivalry between Manchester United and Newcastle under Ferguson and Kevin Keegan. Best Quote – Kevin Keegan “I will love it if we beat them” It will come as little consolation to Keegan that his quote has been voted the most memorable in Premier League history. With the title on the line, Newcastle threw away a huge lead at the top of the table, as Manchester United’s pressure both on the pitch and off it began to tell on the Toon boss. And, after dropping points against Leeds United, Keegan lost his rag at Ferguson, falling to the Scot’s infamous ‘mind games’ as the Magpies ended up in second. Keegan beat Eric Cantona’s ‘the seagulls follow the trawler’ press conference and Alan Hansen’s ‘you can’t win anything with kids’ speech on Match of the Day. Fantasy Team Quote:

I agree with adzii, for me ronaldo has been the most talented player in the league. I don't think any other player has single handedly won the league like he pretty much did in the 07-08 season. But I think Giggs deserves it, for a player to play consistently for 20 years at any club is impressive, but for a club consistently winning titles, it's extraordinary.

this is what I never understand about Giggs and why I don't rate him as highly as others. I'm a United fan and I have to Giggs is one of the most frustrating and lazy players of all time.
He's meant to be world class but still after 20 season can't take a corner. He's played about 100 games as a striker and never got to grips with the role. Flicks the ball with the outside of the boot constantly, usually leading to us giving the ball away. Can't be bothered to track back anymore and sometimes stands dead still once beaten. After the treble season he seemed to disappear for the next 3 seasons  I feel if he hadn't been there so long he wouldn't win the league. I'd argue over his time Scholes, Beckham or Schmeical were all better and more consistent players than Giggs will ever be. It's as if he came into the side at 17 with bags of talent so thought he didn't need to bother developing any further |

Re: Football Season 2011/12
Alonso leaving is when Liverpool's midfield turned to rubbish, he never got the credit he deserved at Liverpool because he was playing next to Stephen Gerrard who instantly got any credit. Gerrard would get the attention because he was a good player who was English, because he had traits that people view as English (he did work hard, he certainly shouted a lot and looked like he was about to punch someone most of the time) and because he would do the Hollywood pass. The pass that breaks open a defence and looks amazing but rarely comes off and instead gifts possession to the opposing team. Alonso never did that, he was the true Liverpool rival to Fabregas and Scholes. Great vision, great and effective passing, rarely loses the ball and can control a game in the same way the aforementioned players could. Great player.
Alonso is now getting the credit he does deserve as one of the key players at Real Madrid. He really is that good. Him leaving Liverpool has equivalent to Fabregas living Arsenal but Liverpool never had anyone to replace him. It's criminal he was so overlooked. ---------- Post added at 22:25 ---------- Previous post was at 22:22 ---------- Also Ferdinand is out of the England team for Euro 2012. Shame, always liked him.
