Re: Season 2017/2018

West Ham moved on Shelvey a few days ago apparently. Mitrovic was said to be a target for West Ham too. Today, Newcastle and Benitez have held talks about re-signing Andy Carroll but have now said they're ruling that out as Benitez has little interest in the player. I can only assume a swap deal was on the cards.

At Newcastle though, we have absolutely no idea what's going on regarding January spending. Officially all we know is Ashley and Staveley met, £300m was agreed upon and we'd likely not hear anything official again for at least 30 days. That's still 17-18 days away I think. There was a leak suggesting an announcement tomorrow but I think that's really unlikely. The other suggested as above that the actual buyer is the Saudi royals which is pretty likely. We're in the dark about what financial commitment has been given for this window though. You've got a guy trying to sell so is naturally bit hesitant in investment.

A transfer market that is sadly out of control is why fees are so high now.

I still think they should treat them like race horses . . if they suffer a broken leg, shoot em :D

It's pretty much solidified Kane, De Bruyne and so on at £200m easily.

Grrr. Mark Hughes couldn’t even get a draw at Coventry. I was banking on that result to avoid having to go to Old Trafford at 8.00pm on a Monday night. :(

Coutinho price is just ridiculous.

Mark Hughes must be close to receiving his P45 given the results these past few months.

If the lad Brereton could actually finish Forest would have had five or six by now.

Spoke too soon, good penalty from an 18 year old.

Well I just hope Wenger doesn’t try and blame the ref for that, Arsenal didn’t deserve anything after that shocking display against a bunch of kids.

Yeah, I still can't believe how well we played (considering how obvious the gulf was in the LC last year and also vs Chelsea this), and without a manager.

Ben Brereton is just a myth though
