It`s so easy for Virgin to say `new channels/HD are coming soon`because that could literally mean anytime. They should say `new channels/HD will be added before.....(insert a date).....subject to negotiations`. Then if they don`t deliver customers can complain.

Also channels such as The Food Network (now also on Freeview), BET, numerous music channels such as the Chart Show (CSC Media) music channels, and the BBC English regions and BBC2 national regions are available on Freesat but not on Virgin Media.

There are some things I don't think will every come to Virgin. The TV regions for one. The only reason they are on Sky/Freesat is because they are all broadcast from the same satellite, it's only the setup that sets which one you get

Virgin only broadcast the channels needed from each headend, so you'll only get the region you live in

Unfortunately I came to realise a long time ago that waiting for virgin to launch new channels was like waiting to win the lottery! it ain't gonna happen! not in our lifetime anyways. Unlike sky virgin do get to choose and pick what channels appear on their platform, when and for how long. They have long and complicated numerous channel contracts with different providers.
Its all well that virgin try and include as many channels as they can under the 'xl' umbrella but to what expense? I do believe they need to start charging an hd subscription because that is the only way vm subscribers would have access to at least somewhere near what sky has.
If you want tivo, true vod and supreme internet vm its gotta be, but for linear channel choice its gotta be mr murdoch!:dozey:

If they're subsidized I would probably get it but £8 (same price as ESPN) is probably a bit much on it own.

Good to hear its launching though :)

If they do a press release (I was going to say "IF THEY DID ONE", but maybe the wrong statement?)

I accept that but I don't see why the regional news for the various BBC regional news and current programmes cannot be made available within the the BBC on demand section. After all, all the London, Scotland, Wales and NI regional programmes are available on demand so why not the English regional news programmes?

You cannot get regional programmes through the iPlayer with Virgin. You can only get them if you use the online iPlayer on the BBC website.
