Re: Formula 1 2010 Season [may contain real time spoilers]
all the article mentions is that the sponsors aren't happy with some of the venues F1 is going to where they don't always have a market and that they don't like the testing ban as testing was a good way for them to entertain clients and get easier access to a driver than during a GP weekend.
Can't see any mention anywhere in the setup of the group where they claim they are restricted from using images they pay to have on cars. |

You've chosen one paragraph in the whole news article, reread it and you'll see it's about more than just a few venues :(

In fact looking at the airfix advert they seem to be doing ok http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xsx7af35TdM Can't see any issues with exploiting the image there, they even do a good job of advertising vodafone too There is more detail here and Chris Sylt writes a lot foor pitpass http://www.pitpass.com/fes_php/pitpa...s_art_id=41733 No mention on there of issues of exploiting cars images but again it does rememtion the fact that not all sponsors will be happy with all the venues |
Re: Formula 1 2010 Season [may contain real time spoilers]
I never said they were ;) the car scenario was an example of what restrictions they have (or do you actually believe they wanted to advertise vodaphone along with their bank???), what I am saying is that they are restricted in not only the sponsorship of the cars but also in the totallity of Bernies control over what they can or can't do.. Hence this new group has been formed as singularly they have little power, but together they can perhaps get a fairer deal..

Re: Formula 1 2010 Season [may contain real time spoilers]
can't see how Bernie will care at all.
This years Ferrari has almost no sponsorship on it but Bernie still gets the same money, the same as when Honda did the earthdreams thing Bernie still got the same. They won't affect his business model so not sure he cares |

What do you think the big bar code is on the Ferrari car??? It's not there for them to scan the car at pit-stops, instead it's a Malboro advert designed to get passed the tobacco ad rules ;)
Along with their own minor sponsors such as Mubadala, AMD, Acer,Etihad and also F1 sponsors that Bernie gives them concessions as well as taking profit to put on the car (Santander, Shelll, Bridgestone) https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...2010/09/38.jpg Also have you ever heard of Sponsors Premium with events??? |
Re: Formula 1 2010 Season [may contain real time spoilers]
there is no barcode on the side of the car
http://www.autosport.com/gallery/photo.php/id/13259365 Can't see one there and it hasn't been there since the Spanish GP http://www.pitpass.com/fes_php/pitpa...s_art_id=40647 Actually the Ferrari sponsorship is a strange case as actually the whole car is owned by Phillip Morris the parent company of Marlboro. All the other sponsors buy the space back off them. yes Ferrari have a better commercial deal with Bernie than all the other teams and always get a lrager payment each season, they will get that whether the car is covered in logos or not. Bernie sells the Ferrari brand to the countries hosting GPs not Marlboro |
Re: Formula 1 2010 Season [may contain real time spoilers]
When I said Ferrari don't advertise, I meant in the same way as other companys do, TV, Mags etc.
They may sponsor races and events, but thats not advertising. |
Re: Formula 1 2010 Season [may contain real time spoilers]
I agree with kymmy. What the f1 teams can and cant do is undoubtedly defined by their contract with the fia. If it is, we will never find out, as they will undoubtedly have non disclosure clauses.
They are clearly unhappy. They aren't going to form a group if they aren't. As for Bernie Eccelstone's assertion they are silly. Perhaps he has forgotton that they pay a huge percentage of the costs of f1. He remembered this once and supposedly lobbied for a delay on the ban on tobacco sponsorship. |
