Re: Football talk

Yes, just a pity that the team that United actually beat ,but for a dreadful linesman ,Porto, are having a stroll against a very average Lyon side.

Re: Football talk

Well its all over, the two semis are

Chelsea V Monaco
Deportivo V Porto

Will it be a Deportivo V Chelsea final or will there be another upset?

Funny old game

Just in case the tide of public opinion was beginning to turn, Manchester United have pulled another gem out of the bag to alienate the man on the street.

United's players have been banned from signing autographs outside their Carrington Moss training ground in case they are sold on for a profit.

The club say they are concerned by the amount of dealers who congregate outside the ground, get merchandise signed and then sell it.

A sign on a fence outside the ground reads: "Due to dealers profiteering from the sale of signed memorabilia via the internet etc, the players will no longer sign footballs or shirts."

In a statement, United said: "This decision has not been taken lightly and we sincerely apologise to our genuine supporters."

Maybe they're just covering up the fact that some of their players can't actually write.

Not good sport imo. :(

I remember collecting loads of autographs outside grounds etc.

That article is a bit misleading

Er no they haven't, they have only been banned from signing shirts, because people were getting the shirt signed and then sticking it straight onto ebay to flog - ie not genuine fans.

They will still sign a book or programme etc.....

Re: Football talk

Scholes content with United's approach

Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has shrugged off criticism of the Red Devils' physical approach during their 1-0 FA Cup semi-final victory over Arsenal.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger afterwards accused Scholes, who was booked for a foul on Jose Antonio Reyes, and his midfield colleague Roy Keane of making unacceptable challenges.
"There are always going to be tackles in big games like that," the England star told MUTV.

"We are not bothered about the stuff being said. The most important thing is that we won the game and we have a cup final to look forward to."

Oh dear god!!! :erm: :Yikes:

Blazin' Squad to Rap England to Victory?

Rumours abound that pop-rappers Blazin' Squad are to pen the official song for the England football team's Euro 2004 campaign.
The FA haven't made any confirmation as yet, but surely the tracksuited London scallys can't rap any worse than John Barnes? All together now... "You've got to move and kick, but do it at the right time..."

Whilst it was a clumsy challenge, and taking into account the fact that Scholes can't tackle for toffee, Reyes did not exactly look like a player who was going to be "sidelined for several weeks due to the awful tackle" from Scholes. He ran around like a spring chicken against Chelsea, bit of a mardy if you ask me.;)

I felt sorry for Arsenal, the poor little lambs, being picked on by the nasty men in White  :pp

i did think it was funny when Arsene was going on about being "Kicked" out of the tournament, then again he probably didn't see the punch and push! Hence my avatar ;)

Yeah Scholesy can't tackle at all, but he does try!!! :pp :D

It's not as if anyone will notice. I can't see Sky showing many Welsh games other than Cardiff vs Swansea possibly.
