Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
Sorry guys if I'm a little confused on the update(s)
Are we still getting two updates this year? 1. before the end of October 2. by the end of the year or is the one currently being rolled out the only one. Many thanks |

Ken said there was a update in october and he was right he also said there would be update in November. http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/35...-post3108.html I think there are the same update. I think November is when the Tivo update will be fully rolled out. |

im surprised im the only one who has said it...
seems weird to me. one tuner can record one channel right.. why cant the software (because thats all it would be) record the padding of both programmes on both recording programes (back to back) on the same channel. |

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
As I said before.I don`t care how the bill is broken down ! getting more for less is great. Tivo and a v+ for £9 less per month & no upfront charges is great as far as I am concerned. Not worried about BB speed or what part of the the phone bill is free calls ( have a spend of £1 to £2 on calls per month !)

Is 1080p still in the video settings ? or has it been removed in the Tivo Update ?
My TV supports 1080p 24hz Would i be able to display 1080p on Tivo on my TV ? Would it make any difference to the picture quality if it worked ? |
Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
Your TV needs to support 1080p25, IIRC. Also, I don't think it matters as there's no 1080p content for it to display anyway so HD programming would still be in 1080i.

You appear to be, at best, misinterpreting what he posted, and at worst, selectively quoting what he posted, and completely ignoring what he posted earlier on that page.
He repeatedly states that nothing higher than 1080i is supported on the TiVo in the UK. |
Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

All UK HD is broadcast in 1080i You tv does 1080p 24 which is usually the format Blu Ray movies will look best in. |
Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
The VM TiVo supports passthrough of 1080p25. The help text does say 1080p24 in the 15.1 software, but this was a leftover from the US version. It has been corrected in the 15.2 software.
But it's irrelevant at the moment as there is no 1080p content. |
Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
how can you tell what sw version is on the box and how can you tell when you need to update?
|
Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
Go to Home -> Help & Settings -> System Info -> System Info to see the version number.
VM will update your box automatically when the time is right. You don't need to do anything. |

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
Thanks for the help!
I have been trying to get it for free but Virgin are having non of it. Think I will wait for the remainder of my contract to run out and see what the deals are then |
Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
well i tried the free route and got no where been with them 9 years but in the middle of a new deal from march this year, still went for it because of the free V+ box upstairs for as long as we have tivo , thought to myself knowing my luck march next year that promo might have ended. when they move the V+ box upstairs do they dumb it down to anormal box or does it keep all its features?. Looking forward to Wednesday to get the beast fitted.
p.s also confirm my obligation is to keep TV for 12 months (any tv package). |

Just seen on VM's facebook page that changes to the tivo fee are coming Nov 1st. Will be £3 per box.

Based on what is being discussed it would be a total of £9.50 per additional TiVo box (£6.50 additional box fee + £3 TiVo fee)

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
If true, then that's a foolish move, and a great way to kill off enthusiasm for those considering buying a 2nd TiVo for multi-room streaming.
"Multi-room streaming is in the latest update and it can be yours! ......for only £36 extra per year." |

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
I take it you only have to order before November rather than have it installed? They can't fit me in until 22nd of Nov, but gonna order a second box this weekend.
On a related note; I had a repair to a V+ box booked in for today because I had to wait until Nov 22nd for Tivo, but when the engineer got to my house and started work I was chatting to him about Tivo and he said he had a spare unit in his van so he could install it for me today. Jolly nice of him and now I have Tivo four weeks earlier than I thought I would. :D |
