Re: TiVo

Around the end of March can realistically be a few days before or a few days after the actual last day of the month.

VM never actually stated that you would get an email on the last day of March.

More than likely the emails will be sent in batches over a period of time possibly a few days to a week. As there will be a lot to send out.

Plenty of hope. VM have a lot more influence and money than a few Premiere users.

Thanks for registering to be in the running to get one of 1000 TiVo boxes, to enjoy on us for a year.

As much as we’d have loved you to win one, sadly you weren’t successful in securing a free TiVo box in our prize draw.

If you’d like to upgrade to our supercharged TV service, just sit tight. We're launching in April so we’ll be in touch in the COMING WEEKS with an exclusive offer.
no mention of the end of march here.

Fair point.

Let's define 'around' then. How many days into April would you give VM to send out the first email of these batches, for it to be considered 'around the end of March'?

I may be wrong here, but that was a reply to both pre-regs and non pre reg current customers (both were entered into the draw). So it had to be more general with the date. Pre regs get tivo first.

So, if any XL customer can order from the 4th, Pre-regs should be contacted earlier as we were told we would be one of the first to get it. If we have to wait until until the 4th, we will just be one of the general XL cue.

As l said a shambolic chaos from the 1st of December to now and still going on now and probably for much longer, we were supposed to have prioroty as existing customers and yet its seems we won,t have prioroty over new customers'

We don't know that for sure yet. There is still time for an email with ordering instructions to arrive before the 4th April. It appears that we will be ordering with all XL customers, but VM may have a way of srill getting TIVO to Pre Regs first, that we aren't aware of.

I hope that is the case; it's a question of how it would work in practice. If any XL customer can ring up on the 4th April, presumably, the CS rep will look at avaolable install dates and book it? Unless they leave X number of install dates free for pre regs, but as they don't know how many pre regs will want a tivo, that would be hard to estimate and would lead to a very inefficient way of booking installs.

Surely, the promised email before the 4th to pre regs to order online is the best way?

The other possible thing is that the 4th, published in the magazine is not the correct date as it has been suggested that tivo as slipped back a little?

DF mentioned it slipping by a few days, that mag would have gone to print at least a couple of weeks ago so could very well be wrong.

Agreed, that magazine is created in advance so events have changed after the content is frozen.

It could possibly be that pre-registered get an email with a link to the new web ordering page but that page is not publically announced for another week say, so we have 7 days to order in advance.

So the message here if that happens is to NOT publish the link on this BB so anybody can use it. That link is mine, all mine, ha ha ha!!! (yes I am going mad waiting since the 1st December!):mad::D

That shouldb't be a problem as they should have a list of account numbers that pre-registered, so they should be able to prevent anyone ordering via that web link who isn't on the pre reg list.

Interesting how it says you can basically have Tivo on M+ or L but with an £8 charge instead of £3.

What a Joke! A thank you would be free TIVO or a minimal Charge.. oh and just to make it worse :

£40 installation fee applies. TiVo box remains property of

What Joke.. no way I am signing up already spent £40 + £150 getting V+!

Why free?

My name's not Dean either! Nor is my Dad's. I am not going to do it, it's too expensive especially if they are going to require the £40 install which they've stuck in the small print (albeit in bold) and we've been messed around far too much.

Great product, awful roll out.

A thank you would be No Installation Charge.

If that is the deal, they can poke it, at least a free install would be good. Charging way to much for this, can't see the take up being very high.

Because I was already ripped off paying over the odds for your V+ box.. I am not going to be lame enough to say "I'm going to sky" but I am very unhappy at this "Special Offer". Its not special and I am not being rewarded as a long term customer of VM. The Offer is priced wrong and most people are being squeezed with Tax, Food Prices so if you expect most people to take this "Offer" I think your in for a big shock.

Gavin-D 31-03-2011 16:30

Re: TiVo

Well i hope they will sort out a deal for me already paying £70 per month and i'm only on L TV with sky sports BB ect if they can't / won't give me a deal they can keep there box.

jinglemansweep 31-03-2011 16:30

Re: TiVo

I bet new customers will get the box for £199 but they'll have a special "free installation" period of a few months, so only end up paying £10 more than us "existing" and "preregistered" customers.

£40 for an install? Unbelievable!

Yep, I think it is the install that is stopping me. Also still £3 extra even those on VIP50 now. Would have been happy to pay £149 but not an install as well. If this is what VM call a very special offer, they need their head shaking.

£50 off is fine, but I think the install would also be nice to be free, because Virgin long term customers do not get anything for their loyalty.

Plus the installers are still learning from these early installs?

All of Virgin Media's marketing and deals are aimed at new customers only.

Would be great if there was a loyalty scheme that is scaled to your length of time as a Virgin Media customer. With a discount or say a free movie rental.

This would keep the churn down and make Virgin Media customers feel appreciated and loved.

Sorry went a bit of course there.....

If you dont want it then dont take it. It really is as simple as that.

I'm amazed that 50 pages on, people are still moaning about the price of a luxury TV service... do you think they are going to dish them out for free? Virgin ran a promotion with a set amount of boxes and that promotion has ended so everyone pays either the existing or new customer price, its really as simple as that.

This has to be the most frustrating thread I have ever witnessed on the Internet... ever!

Think they have made a mistake there matey,No new channels and a £40 installation.Be interesting to see how many pre reg actually take up this offer ?
Cant see many takers at £239 somehow, when the enemy are offering free hd box and over 50hd channels a month at £10 (Which is now what vm are charging £3 p/m tivo and £7 for HDmovies and sports = £10) Only bonus now is espn and with only a quarter of prem football dont think thats a deal breaker

Re: TiVo

So it looks like they shot this lot out at 3pm. Mine says just the same as yours. I have to be honest and say this is what I was expecting. I had already made up my mind that if it was expensive I wasn't going to play their game. So I don't feel bad about it.
The key for me was when they started giving it away. No way was I going to sub to that. It's upset so many including me. It's not all sour grapes because the more I read about it the less I wanted it. I use a projector and the PQ on the SA V+ gives me all I want for now. I just feel so sorry for those that were so looking forward to getting one.OK they can have one but the deal offered is very poor in my estimation.Still we don't have to wonder any more. There will be plenty of boxes available.

Re: TiVo

From what I am seeing on Blogs and Twitter, I would say "VM OWN GOAL". Everybody fine with £149 but the install has really annoyed people. We all know new customers will get a free install offer, so £10 saved for being a customer already and pre-registering.

Bull, this is personal and directed to DF, you SAID the pre regs would get a good deal.

THIS IS NOT A GOOD DEAL!

FACT!

Scandalous pricing from VM and they should hang their heads in shame, how they have treated their LOYAL and commited tech savy customers!

P**S POOR, we should have expected it, as it's usually the norm with VM and yet we all gave VM a chance this time, and waited for 4 MONTHS, then we get bumped with almost £200 for a box thats not even ours, and an increase in monthly sub! ABYSMAL!!!!

£100 FREE install, now that would have been a "SPECIAL OFFER", not the garbage they have just offered!

V+ will be adequate till they sort that dick turpin pricing out!

Fair enough, I think that charging £40 for install is a mis-step for Virgin and will put alot of people off.

If you think how long these boxes will be in peoples homes for and the free PR that they will provide £40 is a little steep.

The thing that annoys me is that the people who have got tivo already and have paid for it have not had to pay the installation charge and have paid just 149.

Why should they have the privelege of tivo early and no install fee?

And who do they offer this price to? Every existing customer? How would you class a customer as loyal? Would a loyal customer be a phone customer of 20 years who has just taken XL TV and Tivo getting the same deal? Would you say thats as fair as myself being a customer for 20 years with all services at the highest rate... all of a sudden I dont feel so special.

What makes you special as a customer? Because you havent gone to Sky? I have been a cable customer for years and would never expect a freebie for a new product launch. How about you go over to Sky and wait for their next box to launch and see if you get a freebie.

And directing your anger at someone on a forum is pretty tragic, why don't you put your energy into writing to Virgin media directly with your concerns. As a forum regular you will be aware how good our CEO office is, im sure they could answer any question you have.

Yes i agree passingbat although personally i am not going for TiVo until all Red Button functions are working,if people are perhaps prepared to wait a few months until the initial rush has subsided i would think there will be plenty more offers on TiVo but not at the moment (as its new) if people can be patient which is the difficult bit.
