I'm trying to remember from the last time whether you have to manually re-boot the SH to get the new config or it gets done remotely?

I have had to manually reboot in the past, but also had it auto reboot, so if you don't have it after a while give it a reboot, unless they tell you it takes 24hrs?

No timescale given on the email apart from some mention of 48hrs to appear on the account. I'll give it that long to do it automatically and then do a reboot if it hasn't.

Originally was told April to Sept next year, had an email last week, signed up and got my increase next day.
Only on 70 and more than suitable for our needs.

Upgrade has happened without me rebooting. But since we've been having network issues over the last half day, now fixed, the speed is like a breath of fresh air after my 3G backup dongle.

My speed boost originally said by end of Nov 2015, then Dec 2015 and logged in today and it's now Mar 2016!

Might as well just use the usual VM tag line, your broadband speed boost is coming soon ;)

it all should have been done before they announced the upgrades were going to start, specially if you say you are going to get most of the country done in 3 months.

Spot on General!

I've just been in touch with them about it and asked to lodge a formal complaint about the exact reason you state. They make a big song and dance about it in the media that most customers will be done be end of 2015 and then fail to deliver. No surprise that new customers or existing customers willing to pay extra can benefit from the new 200Mb tier in my area right now.

He originally told me there was no 'free' upgrade on my account and I'd have to wait so I said fine but wanted to proceed with a formal complaint about them yet again failing to deliver on their promises. After a bit of a standoff he spoke with his manager and miraculously managed to 'reward' me for being a loyal customer and provisioned me for the 70Mb.

I appreciate I've now effectively jumped the queue but I hate big companies treating their customers like rubbish. The only way they'll change their ways is for people to fight back and say that we're not putting up with their rubbish!

Bet their Feb 2016 price rises won't get delayed like the speed boosts!

you are exactly right dude and I was thinking the same thing. I bet they would soon change their stinky attitude if they were forced to delay price increases for as long as they keep delaying the speed increases.

"Dear Virgin Media, I am working hard to provide you with a reliable and timely payment schedule exclusively powered by Barclays 3.0. Although my previous promised increase of £3.42 was due to start February 2016, I am now delaying it till July 2016. In the meantime you can still enjoy all the benefits of my current monthly direct debit."

Gigabit over cable: 32 US DOCSIS channels. Production tier, not a trial.

Wohoo, now if we ever get that over here we might finally have a "fibre" service that has a faster upload than my mobile phone.

Then again, maybe not. By that time my mobile will probably have 150Mbps upload speed.

Don't really need that. The SH3 can deliver 216Mb/s of upload to a segment, so 50Mb uploads shouldn't be too onerous even if not using all 8 channels.

A bit of work to be done first, of course.

I imagine the 550GB/month cap for combined upload and download would prove problematic.
