'Old Bean' is an affectionate term usually spoken by one male to another and meaning 'old friend', 'good fellow', 'good chap'. The expression comes from England and has been around simce the nineteen twenties, perhaps before.:D

If the channel is closing on both platforms, surely it can be mentioned as they can't stop it from leaving the platform.

Also what is the point of posting a channel might leave if you won't post what it is.

Perhaps the closure won't go ahead if it is disclosed on a forum. ;)

its possible that the idea was posted by the broadcaster to gain feedback on the decision and only if the feedback is positive will they decide to make the change.

In this case the person asked for feedback would have been given the information and been given a DNP which must be what has happened here to MB.

In order not to offend any Irish readers, it should be noted that Ireland is not part of the UK. ;) Maybe call the list "Channels currently broadcasting on Smallworld and/or UPC Ireland but not on Virgin Media"
