My gut instinct says Baguley at very short odds to be done by the end of the summer - which summer though??

Still waiting here in Grimsby, though we're usually last to get everything. We just got electricity installed last summer ;)

Electricity! you lucky people. We're still reading by gas light on this side of the Pennines.

I guess everyone who is on the TBC list will feel this way, we are a pessimistic race :)

Somewhere I calculated that at their current rate it will be end of Feb 08 before the upgrades are complete. So we are in for a bit of a wait :)

Is there anywhere on this forum a description of what has to be done in any given town to perform an upgrade?

I dont understand guys, since yesterday I got 10mb, ive been quite happy, but late last night i was doing speed checks, and the speed varied from 2mb to 40mb. yes that rite 40mb.

Thu, 05 Jun 2008 13:35:46 GMT

Test 1: 1024K took 266 ms = 3849.6 KB/sec, approx 31721 Kbps, 30.98 Mbps
Test 2: 1024K took 250 ms = 4096 KB/sec, approx 33751 Kbps, 32.96 Mbps
Test 3: 1024K took 219 ms = 4675.8 KB/sec, approx 38529 Kbps, 37.63 Mbps
Test 4: 2048K took 687 ms = 2981.1 KB/sec, approx 24564 Kbps, 23.99 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 32141 Kbps, 31.39 Mbps

Has any1 else been experiencing varying speeds after been upgraded to 10mb.

Having said that independent speed test sites, such as speedtest.co.uk and namesco speed check all give me 10mb, so why does the above one give me a different result, man im confused any experienced folks to help me out?

It was most likely read from your browser cache, rather than directly from the site :)

I guess the optimistic way to look at it is that there are only a limited number of areas on the list and the more that change to Complete or have a date the nearer each of us TBCs get to joining the finished lot.:)

Re: Virgin 4Mb to upgrade to 10Mb February - Summer

is the 10meg download limit going to stay th same as it was on 4megs? 800mb down during the hours? or will they increase to at least 1GB or 1.5?

In areas where 10Mb speeds are available, the top 3% of downloaders download at least 800MB of traffic each during the peak period each evening, with the top 3% of uploaders uploading at least 400MB of traffic in the same period.

Any users hitting this amount during peak times (4pm till 9pm) will have their broadband speed temporarily traffic managed – their download speed will be set to 2.5Mb, with their upload speed set to 128Kb. This will last for 5 hours from when the traffic management policy is applied.
