No it was not as HD was not even born when these series came along.

On-location bits from old BBC shows were generally shot on film which could be rescanned into HD if the originals still exist, but studio filming was on tape which would have been re-used.

The picture is awful on Sky too.

Which is most likely the source of VMs feed. The dish farm at Langley is still well used for most the non-HD content, although VM can pull the feed from Crystal Palace if they wanted to use Freeview as a source.

It is more than fine - it's equal to or better than the Freeview picture for me.

PQ is irrelevant on 1970's sitcoms. Content and script in all it's naffness is everything ;)

( has to be said though, 'it ain't half hot mum' was crap in the 1970's and it still is...)

I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. They are already available elsewhere and, as I don't bother watching them there, I probably won't watch them on Virgin either. Much of the content seems fairly decent, so should be of interest to some viewers when it eventually launches.

I don’t know what rights expire but the joint venture has been the legal entity running BT Sports for months now. It’s essentially a rebranding exercise alongside changing how it’s retailed.

Longer term they might make strategically different decisions around rights acquisition but it won’t be an overnight change.

Sky has English Championship rights.

We may see changes with TNT Sports on Full House (Old XL Package) coming for the start of the 2025 English Premier League with TNT Sports due to it EPL rights due to expire at the end of season 2024/2025.
