Why should it be discontinued?.

I can't see them wanting to continue a product with such poor performance for so many customers, it's bound to have tarnished the VM brand by now.

Unless the software update improves things significantly...

To say that there are such poor performances for so many customers is quite a big statement in my opinion plus the VM brand is one of the most popular in the country from what l hear.

Interesting but I think that's to retain you as a customer and better to replace it before it stops working through old age. Still six months or more before the new Tivo is launched and no indications that the existing Tivo will be discontinued then.

What if you don't want the box swap?

It is and it's correct from what I've seen and heard.

Looking on forums generally does not give a complete honest gauge of the overall performance and standard of something Richard generally.

Don't get excited. I bet they're the BBC's additional sporting streams.

If it was for BBC Red button channels it would have gone up by six - not four.

For BBC Red Button 2, BBC Red Button 3, BBC Red Button 4, BBC Red Button 5, BBC Red Button 6 and BBC Red Button HD. They will be on Virgin Channels 990 to 996 by June 27th.

But we have seen all the BBC Red Button channels that was broadcasting last summer is still on the list of channels off the EPG.

S4C HD will be with us by Saturday* - BT Sport Europe did launch on an Saturday on Virgin Media UK.

*Info may change.

True, but it is an indicator. Also the problems have been acknowledged by various VM staff and if everything was fine I doubt that they would be bothering with an update to try to resolve the problems, let alone develop a new box!

I've set up this poll to try and gauge the problem for Cable Forum members:

Initially only those who subscribed to the Sky Premium HD channels were swapped, so that those channels could be switched to MPEG-4. Now the rest of the Scientific-Atlanta V+ boxes are being swapped.

I get the feeling it's getting changed to get rid of old tivo stock before the new one comes out

VM (and any business with sense) doesn't keep large stockpiles of equipment. Boxes are bought as they are needed.

You will eventually lose access to the HD channels.

Completely agree too, really impressed with Now TV since I got one in the Amazon Christmas deals. PQ is very good at 720p, I only watch on catch up/box sets so cannot comment on live TV PQ but might give it a watch to check.

There must be another issue for Mad Max to say PQ is bad???

No there's not mate, i saw Now TV on my mates TV and the pq was pretty poor, maybe i'm used to having HD all the time, but since reading the comments it seems most of you are happy with it, so I have a couple of questions, well maybe more lol.

1) I have a new 50" Panasonic LCD TV which has stunning pq, would Now TV look ok on it?

2) What do I need to buy to watch/activate now TV? My BB is with Virgin and I have the top speed, I use the Netflix app on my TV to access Netflix and it loads up extremely fast.

3) I would like to watch Billions which started in January of this year and Game of Thrones which started in April of this year, will I be able to see the first episodes of these shows using catch up?

Many thanks..

If finances are o.k. buy a Roku3 box, I've got one and I've found the picture quality in HD looks great on my 40" Samsung.

But why would i need a Roku box? and what difference would that make to Now TV? I saw something saying that there's now a new Now TV smart box, what's the benefits of this box?

Thanks..

They are announcing a new Now TV box on the 29th June. It is meant to be 4K and based on the Roku 4. They have said it will offer more channels including those on Freeview, but its unclear if it will have a tuner or if it will use IPTV for those channels as well.

Do you have an LG tv, Itshim?
I think the NOW Tv apps are only on LG tvs at the moment...
