The problem with virgin cloud was backup was slow and very expensive and with the new TiVo on the horizon it might explain why

Nice one, that's my evening and night viewing sorted (assuming it is in HD).

Don't think it will be unfortunately.

2016 will be the year of reckoning and I think Media Boy's hints are most encouraging too. New Tivo. Tick. New Super Hub. Tick. New cabled areas. Tick. New apps. Tick. New channels. Tick. Weakest aspects seems to be the lack of 4G and a confused content owning strategy.

Sky Sources has confrim to Media Boy HQ that Sky viewers will no longer need to pay extra for Sky Movies HD Channels from March 21st.

We have also been told that Sky will launch an new channel called Sky Sports Mix in June.

I'll break cover on this.

All changes are from 1st June.

The 21st March thing is when price changes (increases!) will be made public.

Well we shall see Andrew as the proof in the nice pudding is its tasty deliverance.

Cheers for the info. Do you know if SKY Sports Mix, if it launches, is included in regular bundles i.e. Family, Variety etc...?

Good news regarding Sky dropping the HD charge for sky Movies, shame it`s not for Sky sports too though. i can`t help but wonder whether the announcement now about dropping the HD charge for Movies is just a softener for the forthcoming price increase?

Possibly, but it could also be because the demand for Sky Movies has been falling, with the competition from Amazon and Netflix hitting customer numbers quite hard. Sky Movies via Now TV are cheaper and more flexible than via the HD subscription on cable or satellite and are in 720p (£9.99 a month, no contract, even less if you have a search around for season tickets).
Unlike the situation with Sports I'm not aware of Sky's movie deals having a dramatic price hike, so it will be interesting how much this price rise is going to be, and how much of it VM pass through to us.
To compete, Now TV has to keep prices down - it's already effectively the premium of the IP-based services in terms of cost and programming and can't raise prices indiscriminately without losing customers to alternatives.

You needn't look to far
http://www.nowtv.com/offers

6 months movie pass £35.99 equivalent to £6 a month
6 months Entertainment at £24.99 or just over £4 a

Both represent pretty good value for money.

Sky's ownership of Now TV gives it both strengths and weaknesses , it's strengths are Sky's excellent content deals however it's weaknesses are the fact the streaming service is never allowed to be made more desirable than its satellite platform hence why we have never seen 1080p streaming or 5.1 sound.

Isn't the charge £7 for HD Movies and Sports though? It's not like it's £3.50 each.

IE. Like Sky is £10 a month for HD it's your own fault if you don't subscribe to Movies and only Sports it is still the £7 in our case or the £10 in Skys per month?
Therefore I can't see us getting any reduction.

I agree.

There are other disadvantages.

The limited time that they add box sets for; e.g. they have just added season 2-5 of Game of Thrones for a paltry 3 months.

Current TV shows; they only keep four back episodes. When Amazon or Netflix get the rights to a currently airing show and add episodes weekly, they keep all back episodes. There are several current shows that Amazon add weekly episodes of that I watch (e.g. Vikings). I wait until they've added the final episode of the season and then watch the whole lot. You can't do that with Now TV.

Base on info we seen from our Sky Sources we feel Sky Sports Mix will be on the basic package also we think Sky Sports Mix is set to launch on June 1st.

We are still waiting on the 100% confirmed launch date.

Virgin Media UK Sources has given Media Boy HQ an update on the new TiVo box in the past week. But we still do not have the right to post info online.
